Even without all the sharing and internet restrictions X1 has... it's still more expensive and weaker. All that other stuff and MS's attitude towards the consumer just piles on the **** of the X1.

Agreed. Even if you like the package their offering overall, it's tough to make a compelling argument for choosing it over the PS4.

You make a sound arguement. What about the always on Kinect and not being able to sell your games issues?

Again, having a locked down full time decent paying job. I've never been one to cry over a 10/20/30 dollar difference in games. I'm a low volume user I would say and even if I was a high user, price is never a big deal for me personally. Especially not from someone who can pay $1000 for a statue made of polystone and cheap fabric.

I usually buy a title, play it to death then buy another one which could possibly be up to 6 months away depending on the depth of multiplayer aspect.

Always on Kinect I predict will actually become part of our every day lives. Right now keyboards are (have already) making way for touch pads and it's only a matter of time before gestures may rule the house hold in place of remotes. This would be my main use for the Kinect.

The fact the the X-box comes with the Kinetic also seems to be overlooked in the pricing debate. Something which I admittedly have no strong feelings for yet for the above reasons feel that it will be the way of future functions.

To simply pause/switch/load/menu a game with gestures at first seems like a gimmic but if they pull it off I think it may become a large part of the experience.

Sounds like you've made up your mind. That's ok...we need at least one token Xbox One owner. For balance sake.

PS4. It's a work of art. People would be crazy to pick up an Xbox One at launch. And I love videogames.

Far from it. There is still far too much information to be mulled over.

Price, I feel, is the weakest of all arguments. This console is not a beer at the local pub, it's potentially my next 5 years of gaming and media - $100 is a pee in the ocean in terms of the big picture. You're essentially committing to a decision based on less than 1 cent a day. I spend more on NRD's.

Weaker remains to be seen, in what terms and how they impact. It's already been noted most games are multi platform and will run on both systems.

The PS3 was weaker than the X-box 360 yet it was really a non issue for 90% of games and fans.

I think it's just more about what feels good in someone's hands than what system they started on.
Yes, but the reason it feels better in your hands may very well be due to what you were previously most familiar with. Could be for any number of reasons, but there's no objective "this controller will feel better to everyone" option.

I never liked the X-Box controller either. Just powered through it to play the Riddick game back in the day.

This is the only reason l plaayed the first Xbox as well.

I was so used to my ps2, but borrowed an xbox to play "Butcher Bay" and didn't like the controller at first. Then half way through the game i loved the Xbox controller.

Went back to my ps2 contoller, and it felt very uncomfortable. Then the even better 360 controller came out.

So l love the xbox controllers over PS ones.

The PS3 was not exactly "weaker" - in terms of graphics. Some publishers just chose to develop their games for X-Box 360 and then port it to the PS3, because they found the programming on 360 to be easier to handle than the PS3's cell processor.

But why pay more for an inferior product? I agree that $100 isn't a big deal if youre getting something good for the money, but I truly believe you're getting less for more with the Xbox.

I agree that power is sketchy. Even though on paper the PS4 is stronger, results may not really show that. Especially with third party games.

Which by my research seems to be potentially the reverse situation this time round. Meaning it's of little difference.

Exclusives will still look jaw dropping on both systems with minor details separating the multi platform games.

But why pay more for an inferior product

Again apart from my suggested "nit picks" nothing is glaringly weaker in the early reveal. Add the Kinect on the PS4 and you're down to a $40 difference. I've probably got that in small coins in my sofa.

If price is the weakest complaint why do so many complain that PC gaming is too expensive?

It's possible I suppose. I agree there is no one design fits all but that's what I'm saying I think it's just more on the design than history of your gaming history. I've owned the NES, SNES, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2, and the 360. All different designs and the 360 just worked better because of size of the controller and joystick/dpad placement.

More processing power doesn't always equal faster.

Apple has been proving that for years. Does that mean the Xbox will be faster than the PS4 who knows, I am fairly certain that's not been tested.

Among PC crowds they actually feel the PC is the ultimate gaming experience and they would probably be correct if it was just about raw power. For most gamers though it's more than power they are after, it's wide selection, big community's, exclusive games, home entertainment and the fact their friends all have one. Comparing an X-box to a PC is not really an apple for an apple.

Also a decent PC will cost 3 times as much as a console if we are talking strictly money. Possibly more depending on how much juice and side candy you're after. It's not a $50 difference.

That's not the problem with PC's for me though. As above it's the style/placement/restrictions of screen size/ upgrades / lack of choices / popularity etc etc that personally holds me back from buying a "gaming" PC.

I've thought about buying one every year, believe me :wink1:

I started on an Atari, so what controller does that say I should prefer?:lol

I went

Atari > Sega Mastersystem > SNES > N64 > PS > XBOX > PS2 > XBOX360> Wii > PS3

:thud:

On all of that, the 360 controller is much more comfortable than the PS counterpart.

Even the N64 had the right idea. It's all about the thumb placements.

Actually it is comparing an apple to apple. I have some great friends who I play PC gaming with just as many who I play consoles with. PC has a WIDER selection than consoles there's no argument that will prove differently. I would say the communities are just the same if not bigger on the PC. Plus communities don't die as quick on the PC like they do on consoles when the next big thing comes out.

You can easily have a decent computer for less than 3 times the cost of a console and will still look way better than consoles.

There are no restrictions to screen size. Does your TV have a hdmi output? If so you can play your pc on it I'm doing it now. upgrades aren't a big deal. My last computer I didn't upgrade for 6 years. Lack of choices as in what games? PCs are just as popular as consoles. Just look at esports for example two of the most popular games are PC exclusives. I would say the top 3 games are all PC exclusives.
I've thought about buying one every year, believe me :wink1:

PC gaming is the ultimate gaming experience. Console fan or not its the truth. Don't get me wrong I love my consoles dearly. I'm not one of those PC gamers who can't stand anyone who likes to play on consoles, because I do as well.

I don't doubt it. It's just not for me.

Hey and thats fine I never said it had to be for you. Its just don't throw out facts that are completely false and then act like we shouldn't be comparing PCs and consoles.
