But to immediately tag everything XB1 related as innovative in the good sense of the word, is delusional.

Of course, some of it is just the latest tech integrated into the box.

I'm willing to give what initially seem like bad idea's a chance to develop though unlike most. With no middle man prices come down - this is essentially the point of DRM I feel. Similar things happened when the internet became popular, travel agents and stores started to go out of business because people no longer relied on someone else to take a cut or hand the items on. They got smarter.

With all this "cloud" talk and sharing of media, MS are obviously thinking of way's to protect or make the system more secure and offer customers a better experience - whilst making themselves more money in the process.

If it works or not, I guess we'll find out...

Either way I know by January next year I'll be playing mind blowing games on a system. Choices are good.

Yes I'm all in for that, but I still firmly believe that taking ownership away from the customer is not the way, sorry if I sound like a scratched record lol

At least the major said (on Angry Joe's interview) that if certain dev doesn't want to use the used game policies, the XB1 will not require them... I still don't see that happening very often on the XB1.

I also feel like a broken record, as nothing has technically changed. Your still own the disk and can do what ever your want with it. However you have never owned the software contained on the disk as far as legally doing what ever you want with it. I don't get how people don't get this concept. Just because it was not enforced doesn't mean it changed, its just being enforced now.

I mean if you drive 65 in a 55 zone and never get pulled over even when a cop sees you doesn't mean it legal it just means they aren't enforcing it at that time but if you get pulled over you can't tell the judge but they didn't stop me before how come you changed the rules.

All good. :)

It does sound like a bad idea (the 24 hour, check in, etc thing). Fingers crossed they make some adjustments. I personally don't mind the digital media though. I scratch disks all the time and was never a big trader!

I guess if you churn through a lot of games it could be different though.

Because that is not the concept.

You fully own that copy, including the copy of the files that are inside that coy of the disk.

Another analogy, let's say you buy a pair of sneakers, or whatever product you like, you own that pair, you own the design and all the creative and technical work that was put into that specific pair of shoes, you can't replicate the design, because it wasn't your idea, but you can sell it or give it away since that specific pair is your property.

Can you imagine if you sold that pair? The designer asking for money to the people who bought the shoes from you, in order for them to be able wear them?.... Nevermind I'm sure you can picture it :lol... But it's not right, cause that said pair is no longer property of the designer or manufacturer.

Goes the same for almost every single manufactured product that comes with any sort of creative or artistic work.

I sell my used games on eBay. New xbone makes that an incredibly tricky prospect, if even possible. Strike one.

24 check-in. I have great internet connectivity, never down, always fast. But why the hell should I have to authenticate myself every 24 hours for MS's sake? If the console was free, fine. But it's far from that. Strike two.

I'm not a US citizen. The NSA theoretically could be spying on my every move as I type. MS and NSA seem close. Kinect allows spying on a massive scale. Why make it easy for them..? Strike three.

I'm out...

Except this is where you are WRONG

I will take if you never read EULAs.

Orly? :lol

17 USC § 109 - Limitations on exclusive rights: Effect of transfer of particular copy or phonorecord:

(a) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 106 (3), the owner of a particular copy or phonorecord lawfully made under this title, or any person authorized by such owner, is entitled, without the authority of the copyright owner, to sell or otherwise dispose of the possession of that copy or phonorecord.

The key word there is copy, if they were talking about just owning the physical part of the disk, they might as well be talking about a blank disk, a blank disk is not a copy, it's the disk and the software within what makes it a copy....

Your post was completely valid until the last paragraph :horror

Believe me in this day in age of Facebook, wireless, telephone GPS, IP address checks, internet forums and online purchasing. If anyone with any kind of reason wanted to spy on you ,they could in a heart beat. Hell, even anyone without any kind of business, fraudsters.

Throw a towel over the camera, you'll be alright. :lol

:exactly:

You are a smart man.

Although I find the possibility of espionage a little far fetched, like you say, in theory it's possible.

You may want to do more research and also read the entire copyright law not just the first section.

Is there truthfully any point in leaving this thread open when we have threads for each system? Otherwise I'm closing it or sending it to the Sandbox.
