Teddy, don't you still owe me $1500 dollars? Theres only a DX buddy! :lol Because I'll gladly pay for my figure with the money you owe me from that bet you ****.

Mr "Man of his Word" :rotfl :rotfl

I would rather burn it than give it you. You know my stance on the bet.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

Magnus. . .you don't have Bill the Butcher? :horror

I do wonder about this release though, considering that Rainman was talked into doing an all out deluxe figure costing (apparently) about 50% more than a typical DX release. This was based on the understanding that a number of folks were "all in" for it, despite no sculpt being shown.

If the likeness isn't sufficiently there, but the cost is much higher than usual. . .

Yeah man, no Bill. Excellent figure and grail worthy for sure but just not my movie. So hence no Butcher in the collection.

I consider myself one of those "all in" guys. I will be there at the pre-order as I know most will. I don't think Rainman will have anything to worry about.

:rotfl Well first you gotta have it to burn it!

Bullet you've been so vocal on this. Why don't you help your friend out with a few bucks!

No problem. I'll start a separate thread on it. I'll even offer to donate half the proceeds to Dave and sideshow freaks.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

i havent really been following whats been going on with the lonely man but i am looking forward to its release and tho i dont know if i will be able to score a dx or dxx as i'm not vip, i do find myself wishing the haired sculpt was optional for those unable to go the full monty--so to speak.
as for knocking RM himself, i wish that wasnt going on, the man puts out some really stellar stuff and has in many ways set the bar for all sixth scale figures. think its easier to gripe when you dont understand the kind of work that goes into something--epecially with art since often the best stuff is deceptive as to how complex the work behind it is.

The haired sculpt will be available as a head and clothing set. :1-1:

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

Here's the thing regarding style vs. likeness. Not everyone collects 1/6 for the same reasons. Obviously. And everyone is certainly entitled to their reasons. But for me I collect 1/6 so that I can own a miniaturized piece of a film or show that I love and identify with. To me that means getting it to the closest essence of the real thing. Im not a stickler for EXACT detail when it comes to making sure the lapels are exactly the length they need to be, of if the shoes are tad more brown than they were, etc. My dioramas are 'representations' of the real thing. After all, a real 1/6 Bateman apartment would be the size of my office. HAVING said that to me the measure of success in this respect is this: if someone I don't know can come in a look at my collection and not only accurately identify each piece but be convinced by it's presentation enough to invoke the memory of the source material to the degree that they say 'wow, it's like a miniature version of..." then its worth having. I love when someone looks at my photography and questions wether its a screen grab of the film or not. Most of the onus falls on the sculpt. Obvioulsy the clothes matter. The posing. The background. But likeness is king.

One of the things that bothers me most is when someone recognizes the costume and accessories and the character but NOT the actor in the likeness. For instance... "oh look Pulp fiction! Cool! But that kinda doesn't look like travolta..."
