Looks to me to be the one posted on his site. I would assume that this is a pic of her prototype paint. The rolling line on the bottom lip looks to be the same as on his site.

I agree, you can see on his right side (our left) that his smile line touches his mustache, but in the painted pic it does not like the original untweaked version of the sculpt. Looks like we are looking at the old one there which is great news!

If anyone even wants to sell the DX Wonka, you know where I am! :lol That Jules does seem to be the old sculpt. Well spotted man!

Good luck finding someone to part with one man it's a beautiful set and the pride of my collection, easily my favourite piece! There's not a chance I'd bite at $3k

Cheers buddy! :hi5: I've kinda prepared myself to have to pay more than $3k if anyone does decide to sell. I'm willing to wait this one out and just see what happens as its gonna be a damn hard piece to get ahold of!

Good eye AJK, that's definitely the old sculpt. Looks to me like Aeon's paint in darker lighting than the pics on the site.

The funny part is Rainman wasn't wrong about that facial feature. Sam L does have a puffiness going on in that area but it just wasn't translated that well in the sculpt

That's a solid ballpark offer. I'm sure you can get someone's attention with that. Good luck on your hunt! :duff

I was interested in this piece but he's appreciated out of what I was willing to spend on him (*them. Can't forget the Oompa :lol). I was hoping to stumble on one for closer to the $2k range but I guess those days are gone. F it, I fold.

I think that nuetral expression might have thrown off our preception of the likeness abit. Had he gone with somthing a bit more expressive some of our opinions with the flaws may have been hidden better. The sculpt is Sam Jackson without a doubt, the expression, I'm finding more and more, is what's making it difficult for me to fall in love with it.

Possibly. But whether it would hide flaws or not I thought that he should have been DX from day 1. One neutral sculpt, one wild man Ezekiel sculpt. THAT’S something that really would have set this apart

I agree that would have been amazing! Somthing with more gesture to it, maybe show some teeth, some of those anger wrinkles/frown. Somthing subtle but different from the constant nuetral expressions.

I would have loved if he went for the bible quoting sculpt! :yess: But as you say a neutral expression like the one we have got now would have been needed to recreate certain scenes with Vince. A DX figure would have been a cool thing!

The thing with neutral is that it doesn't always draw the realism out of the sculpt that we're looking for. It worked for Bill and was essential for Anton. Anything to expressive or to over the top can limit posability if that's what your into, but neutral doesn't work with every character. You have to know how to capture the character or subject. That's what portrait sculpture is all about isn't it, finding the expression that best defines how we connect to the subject matter. We all connect differently but some things stand out naturally, like the bible expression for instance.

Totally agree man! :) The expressions that we most remember in films are usually the ones that fit the characters, for example with Jules, the bible expression and with Daniel Plainview, the cocky smirk. These expressions resonate with us because of the scenes they are used in throughout the films.

don't forget the quiet smirk with Doc Holiday....priceless...although i didn't get that one i can still appreciate how he was able to capture that character so well
