Terminator will make more money for sure. It's a sci-fi special effects movie with no toxic masculinity in it to offend nu-males. Also, it's a better looking film, even if it's a piece of ****. Rambo is only in theater because the name still has some juice left, and they squeezed what was left to the point that I doubt we'll ever see Stallone as Rambo again on the big screen. Maybe on Netflix. Terminator DF is at least trying to be a four quadrant movie, whereas Rambo, it went from being a B level 80's popcorn event summer movie, to a small, cheap, movie about creative kills for a niche audience that's predominantly male.

The third act of Last Blood alone will be better than anything in Terminator tho.

Knowing Stallone's obsession with on the nose subtext and metaphors, I bet the storm is a metaphor for Rambo's internal turmoil. :lol

Also, later in the movie Rambo tells his nice that he has no control of the outside world. Maybe it's about Rambo's lack of control of things. The final battle happens in an artificial place that Rambo created, a place he has complete control.

They need to make the ultimate 80's exploitation movie:

Stallone - Willis - Schwarzenegger

John McClane is brought in to talk-down Rambo from a suicide jump off the tallest building in the world when the Terminator is sent from the future to kill John because its programming got screwed up by a hacker who changed Connor to McClane.

Sounds terrible...I'm IN! ;)

The twist is Rambo is not suicidal -- he used the jump to lure McClane in so he could protect him from the "coming war".

When Rambo confronts the Terminator he could say in his usual slur: "You want a war? I'll give you a war!"

Funny, lots of 'Johns' in these three guys movies: John Connor, John Rambo, John McClane...

John Wick by name works perfectly... but he's not an 80's icon, nor part of the Holy Trinity of 80's Masculinity.

But since there's time travel inherent anyway, I don't see why not. Perhaps at the end, for the war, portals open and every masculine action hero that ever lived joins in the good fight.

Great analysis.

I love the first 4 letters of analysis lol

Even if Rambo ends up being the better movie I think Terminator is going to wipe the floor clean with Rambo?s box office, sorry Sly but Arnold is about to embarrass you.

You got Cameron.

You got Arnold.

You got Linda.

You even got meth head making his return.

You got Miller and even if you?re not a fan of his he?s a hell more known than the stranger who directed Rambo.

I don?t even know the directors name for Rambo it truly didn?t matter lol.

I don?t even think he did press for Rambo it was all Stallone rightfully so i?m not arguing that it made sense.

But just like Todd Philips is doing press for Joker so will Miller for Terminator even if he has to hold Cameron?s **** in his hand.

Just wanted to point out, I?ve never heard of George P. Cosmatos before or after, I had to imdb him to realize he directed Cobra. Same for Peter MacDonald. Just pointing out the franchise has a history of unknown directors.

Shut up Grace!!! :cuss

Fair enough but those days are long gone.

Nowadays directors need to travel the world to sell their movies.

Hell even stunt men turned directors from John Wick are a brand now...stunt men!

Why this Rambo 5 director was chosen is a big mystery.

Rambo 6 will be directed by Kevin Smith. :lol

Not really. The answers is simple. He's cheap, and Stallone can direct him to make the movie he wants. I knew the guy was a bad choice when I saw his previous movie. It looked cheap and poorly made. That was my biggest concern if you read my old posts. This film turned out almost as bas as I feared, from a technical stand point. It's entertaining, but is that enough to justify existing and ending the franchise on a down note when R4 end it perfectly? No.

Rambo kind of went downhill after First Blood. Part II is such a cartoon thanks to Cameron. It's pretty much what he did to the Alien franchise too. But at least Part II is entertaining in a goofy super-hero kind of way. Part 4 was good because of the violence and gore, really made it feel real and important. Like 3, 5 will be forgotten and rarely referenced except in the negative.
