Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.
Had a movie night with the wife and kids for Mother's Day this weekend. The two movies my wife chose were Thor and Moneyball. And ... she really liked both of them. Guess she's a keeper. Heh.
Thor -- 8/10. Just got around to seeing it -- I've heard it is one of the few you must see before Avengers. I wouldn't rate it as highly as Captain America or Iron Man, and certainly not in the league of Nolan's Dark Knight franchise ... but it was very entertaining. The wife liked Thor more than Cap.
Of all the big-time comic superheroes to get a movie recently, Thor was the character I was least familiar with from boyhood. Batman and Superman were ubiquitous. I was familiar enough with Green Lantern, Wolverine, X-Men, Spider-man, Cap, Fantastic Four, Hulk, and Iron Man that I knew who they were, their backstory, and most of the villains and major players. I knew almost nothing about Thor ... Norse God, hammer. The little girl from "Adventures in Babysitting" was obsessed with him ... heh. Honestly, never heard of Loki before this movie. Movie did a good job of making a relatively unknown character -- at least to me -- compelling.
Moneyball 9/10. Quickly shoots near the top of my list of favorite baseball flicks. I read the book quite a while ago, so I knew the basic story. Still ... its difficult to make a compelling movie about groundbreaking statistical analysis of on-field baseball performance. Pitt was solid as Bean. Hoffman was good as Art Howe -- he seemed to get the mannerisms about right. I always liked Art. I heard Howe was pretty pissed off about it, though ... probably mostly the look. Hoffman is short and dumpy -- Art Howe is tall and built like a Marine.
