Interstellar: 7.5

Might need to watch it again to differentiate the plot holes (if there were any)from things I might have missed.

I was waiting to see what you thought of the movie! I've enjoyed each of his movies so far, so I'm sure I'll enjoy this one. It's not so easy for me to get to the theater, so I think I'll wait for the blu ray if it's not the greatest. It was my second most anticipated movie under Exodus. Hopefully that movie is better! I'm going to watch it in the theater no matter what!

I actually went to see it for a second time last night, I think I'm going to bump my score up to an 8. I caught a lot of things I missed the first time and watching this in IMAX is an experience, I hope you have a good sound system Bane if you plan on watching this on Blu Ray. Most of my issues with the movie are in the first act but after that the movie takes off.

Not really! I think I'll get by though! If I get used to the finer things, it might make it hard to go back. That's why when I shop for clothes at Target, I pronounce it with an accent-Targét. That's as fancy as I'll get! I'm just kidding.

I'm glad you enjoyed it more the second time. A strong ending is important for the final impression of a film. As much as I liked the Prestige, I felt like it kind of pandered out at the end. It's still a great movie. How were the characters and the acting?

Hahaha @Targét

The acting I thought I was solid from the main cast, McConaughey did a really good job, and I thought Anne Hathaway was incredible. The movie isn't perfect but it's extremely ambitious, I hope we start getting a lot more original science fiction films, superhero films and reboots have pretty much taken over Hollywood.

Went to the theater to see Gone Girl finally, but they sold out, even though it's been over a month since it released. Had to pick something else.
Interstellar: 7.5/10
Not bad, just alot to take in.

My group wanted to go see it again at the cinema. They all enjoyed it much more than I did. I would have gone to Avengers twice but not GOTG.

I've seen GotG twice in theatres (dubbed and eng), liked it but has no desire to rewatch in near future.
It's stuck in my head solidly, there's just no need :lol

"No Retreat No Surrender" - 6.5 / 10

Well.. first time watch - yep. :lol I knew about this film for decades - & for whatever reason, never got around to seeing it - especially with a few of my friends being heavily into martial arts growing up & talking about this film.. I'm even more at a loss for an explanation for not having seen it till now.

Yeah. It's a nice story.. when it's not making you cringe. Karate Kid definitely has it over this for longevity. Those 'Bruce Lee' mentoring scenes.. my god - wtf. He didn't look OR sound like him. That token fat guy was beyond irritating too.

Anyway, the kid playing the main character is likeable enough, & his break dancing friend - while annoying, added some cool scenes, like at the club etc. The real draw though, is the fights, & they were all fairly good. The end with Van Damme was a little cheesy in places, but pretty solid. I actually bought this cheap on DVD, so while it not rocking my world so to speak, I've started my Van Damme library now. Again - always been a fan of his old films, but never bought any. till now. :lol

"The Last Samurai" - 8.5 / 10

Well, another film I haven't seen till now. I've always wanted to sit down properly & watch it, & I finally got the chance last night - loved it. I was tempted to give it a 9, but there were a few 'Tom being Tom' moments I felt, which made me chuckle a tiny bit. :lol

That said - the story, the cast, cinematography, the authenticity in recreating period Japan / the Samurai society, the battle scenes - awesome. All in all - pretty damn epic, & I'm going to buy it. :rock
Anybody got anything they'd like to add at all.. :huh :lol

300 : Rise of an Empire I give this a 0 / 10!
What a waste of time.I just watched this on a rainy day...I could have had more fun in the puddles outside!

Oh that's great to hear (Well, I guess the right word is "read," but you know I mean.)! I always liked McConaughey, but never saw much range in his performances, so I'm excited to see that. I've been really impressed with Anne Hathaway, so I'm not surprised by that! Thanks for letting me know!

I don't mind if a movie has plot holes for the most part. I give extra points if it is ambitious. I always think of it like the "Star is Burns" Simpsons episode. Sure "Man Getting Hit By Football," was flawless in it's execution and lived up to it's title, but does that make it a great film? "Pukahontas" had a lot of mistakes with its poor editing, mismatches scenes, awkward dialogue, and a little out there, but it had so much soul! I thought it was a far more dynamic piece of art, and therefore I'd take it any day over something that's safe. Maybe you feel differently, but I believe with all the errors Barney Gumble was a far better film-maker, with his added depth and emotional resonance. In conclusion, the Dark Knight Rises was a great movie and I don't care what anyone says. (I just had to throw that last part in there for no reason! :))
