Give it at least an 8 then. :monkey3

Me too. I knew Natalie was going to be a big deal after seeing this back in 1995, but the cast in general are excellent.

One of Oldman's finest hours. :lol

Absolutely.

I wanted to, but a 7.5 felt more fitting, doesn't mean I love it any less.

I liked Oldman, but he was a bit over the top imo, even for this movie, some of his mannerisms were overkill if you ask me, but most of his performance was good, like it's a bit cringe for me every time he pops a molly :lol

The real stars are Reno and Portman, those 2 never, never get old.

I wish that French company would release the rights and script for the sequel, while Portman still looks young.

"Leon" was written, directed and produced as a French film. By their standards Oldman's performance was too grounded, his character felt like the actual psycho instead of another cheesy bad guy.

Not at all, of the 2 last Besson's films I've seen, this and Nikita, Oldman is easily the most eccentric character.

I'm not saying his performance was bad by any means, just not the best one of the movie for me, some of his mannerisms were too much, some.

I'm talking about French cinema in general. I grew up on French films of different genres and eras, you can trust me here. :lol
For the easiest reference look at TAXI, which Besson wrote and produced but didn't direct.

Eh, I can forgive the excessive couple of mannerisms of Oldman, it's by no means a subpar performance, and this is certainly a sentimental movie so it's ok after all.

I've seen plenty french films myself, not that old though, from the 80's and fwd, but they were set in France and the characters were French, that's different. :lol

What's not to love? :lol
No sequel :gah:

That was the intention though.

RIDDICK can probably explain it better perhaps, but that's just the Euro way. :lol

Par for the course with that kind of movie.
I can see the intention, btw I'm not the only one saying this, I read a couple reviews and some people have noticed it too :lol

I'm not saying his performance was bad, just some eye catching over the top moments.

He didn't win anything?

He was so cringe, the dude crawled under your skin.

I knew I was in for something special when I saw this teaser.

Easily my favourite film of 2014, and the lack of nominations was baffling. Still, neither financial success nor golden statues are true marks of a film's quality.

Yeah, it was a nice teaser.

This was my favorite trailer. When I saw it, I felt it was probably going to be very good.

Loved the music and vibe.

2001: A space odyssey - 9/10

I know I'm supposed to take a movie as it is, by itself, on its own medium.

But I can't help to compare it to the book's execution, and I understand the compromises that were made and I obviously don't have a problem with those... But every time I watch it and reach the stargate travel sequence, I can't help but to think Kubrick had little clue what Arthur C. Clarke was trying represent there and went random hippy dippy LSD for most of it instead.

Other than that, it's easy to forget this was made in the 60's, damn.

I wonder how many of those people are Americans. :lol

(..I know you're from Mexico, right?)
Why is that?

Sí señor.
