Gaspar, I’m just curious, what did you think of Arrival?

A Quiet Place was pretty good. I felt weird eating popcorn because the theater was so quiet - and packed. You could hear Ready Player One through the wall.

Then go watch Ready Player One. You'll be alone.

You're not gonna fool me, I'm gonna be elbowed by pseudogeeks and asked if I saw a particular reference huh?

You're doing it to me right now aren't you? Because I don't get that reference.

:lol

Your sole crunching chewing sound when something emotional happens. :lol

Star Trek 2: The Wrath Of Kahn 1982

Saw it in the theater the summer it opened.
It's been my favorite Star Trek film ever since.

Jurassic Park 1993

Saw it for the 1,000 TH time or so tonight.
It's held up beautifully over the past 25 years,
and it's hard to believe it's just about that old now.

Ready Player One (2018) - 8/10

I don't think that this film will be remembered as one of Spielberg's top tier efforts (JAWS, Raiders, E.T.) but it's easily the most fun I've had watching one of his movies since Temple of Doom. Terrific entertainment.

A Quite Place 5.5/10.. I'M really in the middle on this one.I hate to give it a 5.5/10 because it sounds low and it's not a bad film.Actually the acting is very good by everyone and Emily is exceptional which is to be expected. But it reflects the outright couple of monstrous flaws in an otherwise good film.Day 82 and Day 479.

Another thing and it's not just this film,it seems to have started with the Cloverfield Creature. It's become a style of mutated creature that has popped up in Godzilla,King Kong Skull Island and this film. And most likely a few others I may have not seen. It's just not very interesting or scary at all, whether big or small. It seems to have become the go to style of CGI creature in film.No imagination.Too bad.

The Prince of Egypt - 9,5/10

I don't care for musicals.
I don't like religious movies.
I hate 3D animation.

This film has it all and I love it.
Twenty years later it still looks stunning and feels great.
Minus half a point for out-of-place poorly played high priests and their awful song.

Quiet Place is the BP of thriller/horror movies (as was IT), over freaking rated.

Yes there is one great tense scene but that’s it!

Huge plot holes.

Lame cgi creature.

I went to the movies tired just to see if the hype was real.

Nope.

That sucks. CGI rarely has any place in horror movies IMO. It usually destroys the illusion that there's a real tangible threat.

In quick shots it was well done but once the full reveal happened.....lameeeeeeeee. Just ruined.

The movie is ok to good but not the “best thriller/horror” destined to be a classic as Grace is claiming lol

She’s saying one of the best horror movies ever!

The plot holes were huge.

All of modern society couldn’t figure out the creatures weakness it was so freaking evident what it was lol

Watched it twice.. Really enjoyed the first hour.. But the right after the Shinning part I feel the film really bogs down

Still good. 7 out of 10.. I agree though. Not close to his best films.

I never said it "was not close to his best films," just that it isn't Top Tier. ;) The silly "Scooby Doo-esque" finale with Sorrento and his female henchman in the real world bugged me on my first viewing, not so much on the second. We'll see how I rank this film a few years down the line. As I said I wouldn't put it on the level of JAWS/CE3K/Raiders/E.T. but right now I can easily say it's my favorite film that he's directed since the 1984, possibly even 1982.

The scenes with Olivia Cooke sneaking around IOI's complex with classic "Alan Silvestri high tension music" was pure Spielbergian bliss for me. It also helped that Cooke bears a strong resemblance to young Lea Thompson. That made for a nostalgic combo every bit as delightful as all the full on 80's references and cameos.
