The game pulls fast ones like no game I've ever seen. It goes out of it's way to **** new players by throwing in critical scenarios and you're grossly unequipped for it. Not to mention the Magnum sidequest ****ing sucks.

That thing with the knife isn't going to help NEW players against Alexia, because most new players probably wouldn't use the knife regardless and wouldn't know how powerful it is in Code Veronica, along with how to properly use it. It'll help them save Claire and I will admit, players who didn't bother looking upstairs for the knife and went all the way back for Chris's...that is their fault, that is pretty stupid because by that point you should be scoping any new area. But that doesn't justify the Alexia issues at all. And keep in mind Alexia has the ability to instantly kill Chris if she grabs him - and there lies the huge risk with the knife. Also the game doing that twice so far - what do you mean? I don't think the game did that where it swapped characters and when you switched to a new character you were IMMEDIATELY thrown into a boss fight.

The Magnum sidequest has no reason to exist, the ******* magnum should never be something that stupid to find. Hell, finding ammo for it is a pain too...But when you know what CV is going to pull, it's not bad. It's a game that improves on subsequent playthroughs I feel...but not by much, and there's the other issue, first impressions and how you were supposed to know the first time. It doesn't erase the initial feelings you had. There's way too much stuff for first time players to deal with.

Well, I decided to start over (again) but playing on the Ps2 version. Ironically, on the 360 version, you can have only 5 saves, and on ps2 15.

I realized my mistake in the 2nd half. If I want Chris to have access to the fire extinguisher (for example), I need to put it in the item box before becoming him.

I did try to fight Alexia with just the knife and my 7 bullets, but couldnt get it done as my health was on yellow caution at the start of that fight.

It's the only instance I can recall from the series where the game truly ****s the player out of getting a weapon since you're not planning on using the extinguisher again.

Gotta say, that playing on the ps2 version feels a bit easier, just cause of all those save slots.....but the arctic level is very hard to see......

Update: once you get the lights back on, definitely easier to see on the Arctic level - just made it to Chris (again), and did all the things I screwed up on w prior attempt(s): since I knew where the transition was, put all the items in the item box that I wanted him to have. Fire Extinguisher is finally his! And made sure to kill the Worm and getting the lighter. Lighter was a surprise........And got the dual guns for him

So yeah, in order to kick ass w this game, you gotta know about those transitions from Claire to Chris.

Definitely not the best game design, but its still fun m

Well, beat the RE: V X game last night. had saved a lot of ammo and ended up not needing a lot of it. Accoring to Wiki, the next two games that came out - one was for a handheld, the other never released in the U.S., so I may replay the Re-make or go right into RE:0

Well, I am glad the switching from Claire to Chris to claire happened at the very end. Aside from that, I liked the story. Liked the idea of a psycho running an island. Found the final boss almost easy. Game is pretty fugly on PS2. it is very dark at times (when power is out), and I could have used a little more of a horror atmosphere. A bit of a lost opportunity there, I think. Great seeing Chris back.

Since RE: Gaiden was next, along with Survivor 2 which never hit the U.S., after that was the Re-make and RE:0

Supposedly for Claire it was justified in that she took a more passive/peaceful approach against Bioterrorism. I can understand that, I don't like it but I think it does make sense. In hindsight though because of that, Claire should be the least effective at monster killing...especially because she isn't even formally trained unlike Leon, Chris, Jill, Barry and Rebecca (slightly in her case).

If RE2 hits and does well, I am holding out hope for a RE3 HD remake - would be very nice!

We're lucky that we're getting a remake of 2. We could see more VR gimmicks with this franchise. Until Capcom announces they're officially going back to its roots.

If we get RE3 REmake, there's gonna be an RE4 REmake and it'll be ported into oblivion to kingdom come.

They'll be like 'Code Veronica REmake? What's that?'
