I think the G-virus was supposed to give the type of powers Wesker eventually had and could also breed the same powers with a DNA match (sherry) but as the G-Virus was not fully developed it became unstable and the host turned into what we know as G.

What happened to irons and Ben was the G-virus rejecting the host as it was not a DNA match from the G that planted the embryos (Birkin) and they became G adult body's (basically monsters without the power of G).

As for Sherry because the G-virus was genetically compatible with her she would of became the same mutation as William if Claire and Leon hadn't of give her the vaccine in time.

Again just what I believe as we obviously didn't see what a successful G-embryo would turn out to be.

Giving Sherry a healing factor was so frigging stupid. You might as well give Jill optic blasts for being given the T-Vaccine.
