Though I may not agree that the original is "timeless,"

To be clear I stated that the score and suit from the original are timeless, not the whole movie. But, as you seem to agree, I did state that everything else is still cool and relevant even today. Meaning the original RoboCop worked in 1987 and still works in 2013. Will it be relevant in 2050? Who knows. But there's certainly nothing that demanded an update right now.

I do agree that it didn't need to be "re-imagined." But because of that, all you have to do is ignore the new one and the original doesn't get affected in any way. The trailer doesn't look too bad to me as a fairly mindless action movie. I'll maybe watch it on DVD.

Oh I'm not upset that this new one exists or anything. The definitive movie still exists and will always exist. And if anything we probably have the reboot to thank for the awesome new Hot Toys figures. Hopefully this will prompt a new transfer of the 87 classic on Blu-ray as well.

This one looks like a forgettable Iron Man 1/2 wannabe with some dashes of Dark Knight thrown in for good measure. Sam Jackson is playing Sam Rockwell's character from IM2. Tony Stark has been split into two characters: Suit building Stark (Oldman) and injured/suit wearing Stark (whatever the new guy's name is.) Looks like it ends with a rehash of IM vs. the Hammer Drones so it'll probably pass as adequately mindless entertainment.

At least Weller's costume fit. Look at all the parts that are out of whack here. Dr. Who has better costumes than this.

Its a behind the scène still, the helmet has a bigger visor so the actor can see.
Cgi cover in post.

Dig the silver suit. Hope HT Will do it.
Here is a great interview of the director, if you can Forget the original its a pretty cool take on the subject.
Btw Padhila is not the usual Hollywood yesman so this not just press talk.
I urge you to watch his movies Élite squad 1&2, they are great about the way they tackle police politics medias.

I think the knee jerk backlash against this is understandable, since the film has become a cult classic over the years, and some people just don't want to see it messed around with. But who knows? It's very possible that this could be a solid action movie. Nowadays, I'll take good movies over mediocre garbage, whatever the source influence or motivation for making the film. Sure, ideally we wouldn't see rehashes meant to capitalize on name/brand recognition, but that's the nature of things. It's either this or nothing more often than not.

Is this a Bollywood remake of Robocop? That's what I think we have here folks. See if there is any Indian names tied to the production of this flick. :panic:

The trailer was, well it just was, didn't speak to me, when I saw the 1st suit I said to myself "well at least they're gonna use the original colors, looks cool" and then old fart Batman said "make it tactical" and I rolled up into fetal position :lol

The only thing it induced on me was the urge to see the original again...

I blame lazy CGI and PG-13...
