Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

The saddest thing about this thread is that 95% of the people here only know Mendelsohn from TDKR.

In a world where any movie can be accessed at the touch of a button it's depressing that people won't go out of their way to find out why an actor out of their immediate radar is so well regarded.

I'm an idealist, so I'll say it again. Watch Bloodline. Watch Starred Up. Watch The Place Beyond The Pines. Watch Animal Kingdom. Watch Mississippi Grind. Watch Lost River. Watch Slow West.

Watch one of those and instantly learn why Ben Mendelsohn leading a Star Wars movie is such a win.

It's the best work of his career. In fact, he should have retired after being part of such a glorious masterpiece. Dying at hands of Bane played by the best actor of his generation, Sir Tom Hardy, must have been a great honor, a once in a lifetime moment most actor would dream of, so you can see there's no reason to be sad.

To paraphrase Vader... I find your infatuation with Ben Mendelsohn Disturbing.

I only saw Pines, but don't remember him in it. If I see one of the films you listed above, I am expecting a revelatory experience, a cinema epiphany.

Ok, noticed "Starred Up" on Amazon Prime, maybe I'll give it a look.

Edit - I'm a little over an hour into Starred Up and honestly, I have no feelings for it. Mendelsohn is fine, but I don't see anything in this role that really impresses me. Might just be my mood, but the movie is boring me. Not sure if I'll finish it tonight.

Edit 2 - Ending was decent, Mendelsohn was fine, more impressed with the actor who played his son. On whole, found the movie pretty tedious. Didn't really see anything that would convert me to a Mendelsohnian, thought I'd give it a chance though.

Disney messed up going with RO as the main title, this "SW Story" thing just sounds dumb. it should've just been Star Wars Rogue One, done.

This movie is going to bomb big time and at most only make 1.5 billion.

I'm 50/50 with TFA so I have no problem trashing that movie lol.

What's ironic is what i'm looking forward to the most with RO is what TFA gets the most flak for, the cloning (pun fully intended) of the OT.

I'm super excited to revist that OT era, at the very least it will be visually comforting for me lol.

Nah, just another case of likin' something to the point of sayin' bad things about those who doesn't because the marketing says so. You need to socialize, dude!

Damn you think it may bomb? Idk. If we have a good Vader scene it may not
