I was born in 1980 and I ****ing love ROTS.

Since I was a kid I'd always wondered how the Empire came to be. How the Jedi went down. How Palpatine came to power. ROTS beautifully answered that question.

When Mace and the Jedi go to arrest him..."I AM the senate.. That whole sequence, how Palpatine easily dispatches them, how he finally drops the good guy act and reveals the monster under the mask and uses Mace to lure Anakin...perfection. His entire role in the PT is perfection.

His speech at the opera house, that smile when he describes killing Plagueis..."Its ironic, isn't it? He could save others from death but not himself.". Superb stuff. I get chills just thinking about it.

And the fight with Yoda from start to finish was a wet dream. Two titans fighting for their lives. The pleasure Palps displays as he attacks the Grand Master of the Jedi Order..."I have waited a long time for this moment, my little green friend...".

ROTS answered all of those questions I had waited 30 years to obtain and proved a theory I always had - which was that Vader had nothing on Palps. Palps was always the monster and Vader was just another one of his victims.

Advance 1: Starfield with movie title
Advance 2: Beach with Death Star in background
One sheet : Beach with characters
Imax One Sheet : Death Star with Characters


Actually, I've heard there are character one sheets as well, but I have not seen them.

Never expected a "beach" to be a Star Wars location.

No offense, but if all these characters ended up all dying, I think this film would send a true message of war

I also think that SW fans would really respect this film for years to come.

Forget Glory, Saving Private Ryan, Rambo 4, Black Hawk Down and Hacksaw Ridge. Finally, a film that will dare show the horrors of war. Thank you Star Wars.

But seriously, if they all die, good. If some survive for a sequel, then I won't be surprised.

I don't know the whole story of the Rogue One team, but maybe some "die", but really they just go MIA (missing in action) or they survive and go on another mission. Is that really impossible?

If I had it my way, I would have Jyn's father purposefully put the exhaust port defect in the design to make it easy for the Rebels to destroy it as from the trailer we know he is the one who contacted the Rebels in the first place. Then in the final scene of the movie we watch Jyn reunited with her father, and with all the other team members already dead, we watch as both panically upload the Death Star plans to Princess Leia ship's as Darth Vader and troops are breaking down the door with Vader using his lightsaber to cut the door open.

Of course the tension is there as its race against time for the plans to be uploaded against Vader getting into Jyn and her father' room. Once Vader gets in, Jyn and her father perish together at the hands of Vader.

The movie then ends with Vader's Star Destroyer chasing Leia's Ship going away from the camera. Then we all go home and watch Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope opening with Leia's ship coming towards the camera still being chased by Vader.

So Star Wars IV would already be the direct sequel per say to Rogue One.

Just my two cents and wishful thinking for a very dark war movie with emotional ending. But of course Disney might want some sort of happy ending and the heroes escape for more adventures. LOL

I had no idea Rogue One took place so close to ANH. I thought this film took place a few years before ANH

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

If you watch the trailers, you can tell the Rebels are on Yavin the same base from ANH. Several characters, recast with new actors, are there from ANH. The ANH opening crawl and Vader's comments to Leia about the "plans being beamed" to her ship lead me to believe Rogue One happens right before the events of ANH.
