Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

The last 240 years of American entertainment (and Western entertainment) has suffered no drought of white alpha males punching and groping their ways to victory over a non-white/non-American enemy. What's wrong with giving the other guy or gal a bit more if the lime-light.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

It's like DiFabio didn't say anything :lol

Doesn't matter. Rushmore knows I'm right. He's clearly an intelligent person, it's just a hard pill to swallow at the end of the day. I can tell I got through to him because he repeated some of the things I've stated. Yes, it's in a mocking, sarcastic tone, but deep down as he watches these movies or adds those toys to his cart, he knows I'm right. He just doesn't want to admit it because the Star Wars loving child in all of us wants to experience those feelings we had, again and again and again.

It tickles me when I think some anonymous stranger I've never met is pondering their existence because of what I said as they buy up an exclusive Scarif stormtrooper so they can play with it in line to kill time at their Rogue One showing in two weeks.

Just kidding.

I'll say this though if anything "corporation" related is going to be "the thing" that stops a person from enjoying any movie then you are simply in the wrong country....really in the wrong planet at this point lol.

Every facet of our lives is now attached to a marketing department, gimmick, promotional partner or focus group and that's just on the legal side of things!

My freaking general contractor sent me a questionaire if I would be interested in Star Wars themed cabinets and flooring.

Welcome to capitalism, nice to meet you.

Lucas didn't create SW because he wanted to give a gift to humanity, he wanted what everyone else desires in this world, to be super wealthy.

Corporations trying to sell you stuff is now part of the core fabric of every nation from entertainment to food to medicine to clothes and everything else that fits between a and z.

Military freaking recruitment has a huge marketing department on Madison avenue.

I am surrounded by fortune 500 companies because we as humans decided a very long time ago that money would be what keeps us alive but we also get to decide how we spend the so called disposable part of our income.

So to hate on Disney because they are trying to shove Star Wars into every cell of your existence, well that's just who and what we are now as human beings, it is human nature to do just that and it is nothing remotely new.

They're doing no different than what Lucas, Kurosawa, Cameron or those idiots that created Cannibal Campout did (one of those failed miserably).

Disney is not evil, Disney is just you and me.

So just go do what you were meant to do from the second you were born, go watch RO lol.

I thought rushmore223 was agreeing with you guys.

In a day and age when information is tailored to an individuals ideology, so that little can penetrate their own personal belief bubble, is it any wonder that people become hostile when presented with different opinions in their entertainment? People have grown more and more resistant to any contrary point of view and become so incensed at the slightest challenge. We are in an age of stilted intellectualism, we have unprecedented access to information, yet brains are turning to mush. People deny science when it contradicts what they wish to believe, because our egos have been massaged to the point that we have the temperament of little children. When was the last time in history society was like this? Reminds me of the struggles that faced Aristotle, Copernicus and Galileo.

So if people are hostile to science with contrarian views, of course their baby brains will be upset when faced with art that isnt tailored to their particular opinions. What happened to seeking out intellectual and ideological challenges in order to grow? Society makes me sick. I pray the day never comes when our art is also tailored to fit each individuals narrow viewpoint.

Describes SJWs perfectly. :lol

Problem is that disney is supposed to cater to everyone, but they dont care about inflation they just care about their prices. None of their current movies drop below 20.00 on itunes and never ever have i seen a sale on a disney movie. Their park prices are getting half way there were is close to 200 when six years they didnt go higher than a 100, not to mention how much merch pricing like SW and princess stuff surges above retail, its ok to make money, but they go over board since people will pay it, but they push it super close. I had this crazy idea of buying every disney movie but once realized that the constant pricing is flatlined for all of them no matter how old it is i stopped. Like if i wanted to buy each mickey mouse club house volumes, they would have run me up like 19.99 per vol for only like 8 episodes worth 2.99 each.

I hate disney and more so since my disney rewards points expired, i had like 8,000 saving it up for something decent, but when i tried getting the rogue one posters all my points on my account were "expired". Screw disney.

Greed, unfortunately you can't be human without having that trait, it is not unique to Disney lol.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

I was going to take my 7 year old step son to see this but he doesnt want to go now. His reason being 'Luke blows the death star up anyway. We know the plans go to the rebels so im not bothered now Andy. Anyway, the trailers showed half of the film and they all have to die cuz they arent in the first one. If they lived then Luke wouldnt be that special and Vader is as much as a failure for not killing them all as Kylo was for not killing Rey; she was a girl who only used a lightsaber for 10 seconds and she owned him'

For 7 years old, cant knock his thinking even if its abit simplistic!

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

One of those seven deadly sins........but Mickey felt above it all :lol

It is why there are very highly educated individuals with more ivory college degrees than 10 walls could handle sitting in a jail cell next to another person that didn't even finish high school.

Man all this just because of Star Wars, can't wait for the Alien 5 social debates lol.

Your wife's son sounds pretty smart. You also have a great memory to be able to record what he said word for word! Impressive.

I'll have to reread your original statement when I get a chance, cause I'm pretty sure I didn't agree with you, but I'll give you the benefit of he doubt. In my defense I had a 8 year old complaining to get out the door and a 20 month old climbing on me, constantly saying "Dada" while trying to grab the IPad.

No sarcasm intended in the post and even though I didn't intentionally type "Endor the day", I like it and will take credit for it.

I'll have to reread once the kids are in bed.
