I'm not saying she's a Mary Sue, we don't know yet, I'm saying I see why the concerns about this new one possibly being another Mary Sue. And just for the record, Rey IS a Mary Sue, I like her character, but she most definitely is one, no one is throwing around the word inappropriately.so now anyone with an attitude is a Mary Sue? Kids discover a new word......

She could still be a good, strong and flawed character and that line was just an unrepresentative lame line.
It's not the attitude either, the attitude just makes her look tryhard, for all I know she's one of those characters who are tryhard but **** goes wrong for them every time, I would be ok with that.
I am excite
Loved the trailer.
Agree...... Too early to hate on anything unless it's JL. Some blowhard will take the last piece seriously...I kid
That doesn't not make her a Mary Sue. In fact that has nothing to do with it, and no it doesn't have precedent I also don't think the term has lost meaning at all, in fact I'm hesitant to say the following because some people could probably get triggered but Rey being a Mary Sue is pretty much a fact. Objective, quantifiable and verifiable. And like I said, I like her, but make no mistake, she is a Mary Sue.Rey really isn't a Mary Sue since the nature and mystery of her abilities is addressed, has precedent in the series, and is clearly an intentional omission, to be explained later. Of course that term have become such a catchall at this point that it's got no real value. But I think we've been down this road before so
That's because he's not one.No one ever dismisses Luke as a Gary Sue.
No one ever dismisses Luke as a Gary Sue. Not saying it's definitely male bias but may well be.
Okay. Luke is useless and inadequate in ANH, that automatically makes him the farthest thing from a Gary Stu.Prove your point then. You can't just say "this a fact" and expect people to buy it unless you are running for president.
He's not, Luke is pretty terrible and fallible hero (which is what makes him awesome). He made plenty of mistakes.
