Nothing new?

First SW movie where most of the primary good guys die.

Vader's attack.

Cgi dead actors.

Cgi rebel fleet attack.

First SW movie with no lightsaber to lightsaber fight.

Return of OT characters at their original age.

PT character in OT era.

Beach setting.

No crawl.

Location titles.

Shall I go on lol.

Beach setting and location titles are the only new things in that list. The rest are things it *didn't* have or variations on existing characters, hardware etc.

Even though i disliked the movie, this made me laugh.

:lol I clicked on my usual 'go to first unread post' but then had to turn away. I return a minute later and see a picture of myself on the forum - wtf?! :lol

Also, Felicity Jones can photobomb me any time.

It's not even a human, that's the HT!

You like your new shirt lol.

I think that's my favorite moment... and new favorite name.

There are so many awesome moments in the last 35 minutes. :rock

So nice seeing all us freaks united over this....cough Riddick cough.

Why didn't Vader just blow up the ship where the Death Star plans were transmitted by Jyn? Why the need to retrieve the files? Was that VHS tape-sized file that Jyn stole the only copy? And I thought it was the Mon Calamari ship that received the transmitted plans but the ship that Vader boarded was full of humans, not Calamaris (or whatever species they're called).

Calamari ship had transmission, saved it to disk, when ship came under heavy fire, transferred to disk from computer, assuming it was purging it, give to rebel trooper who barely manages to get it to another guy behind the door into Tantive IV vessel.

In ANH when Vader finally catches it, the plans were in R2, not the computers, so I would assume that they never copied the disk to the main computer, in case they were caught they could deny it. Still unless Leia destroyed or hid the disk somewhere, there would be THAT piece of evidence somewhere as I don't think the disk was permanently inserted into R2 but I haven't seen beginning of ANH in a while.

Another question I thought up, regarding Galen and the DS construction. At the end of Episode III Vader and Palpy are seen watching the construction of the DS from afar on the bridge. Granted it's in a very incomplete state, so was Galen involved at that time, and was he designing the flaw then? OR are we to just forget that ending part of ROTS where it showed the death star being built. I think I've heard there are 20 something years between ROTS and RO/ANH but the key is, how many years since ROTS to the start of RO is there. That'd possibly mean it took them like 20+ yrs to build it.

So, saw the movie and LOVED IT! Thought it was my fav experience since Jedi. Came to the boards all looking forward to everyone nerding out. Kinda realizing that to me now, they are just movies. And as such, I can actually enjoy myself. Gonna see it again in Imax for sure.

Glad you enjoyed it. Most folks have positive reaction towards the films. Will watch it again over break :)

I'm kind of in "how can this ever be topped" mode. I mean seriously. With RO I got the tone I've always wanted in a SW movie, I got stakes, I finally got a OT-quality space battle but with modern visuals (TFA's X-Wing attack on Starkiller looked awesome but didn't have the tension of OT battles), got to see new worlds, creatures, etc.

Of course I still want to see where they go in Episodes 8 and 9 but no longer because I have a "hunger" for what *can* be achieved in a SW film. I feel like my wishlist has been totally fulfilled.

TFA redeemed ROTJ somewhat by allowing Han to go out the way Harrison always wanted and it did introduce some great new icons but Rogue One pretty much gave me everything else I've ever been excited about going all the way back to 1995 when George announced that he was "updating" the OT with modern visuals. Only now has that promise finally been fulfilled IMO.

Everything from here on out will either be gravy or harmlessly dismissable. This is one content Star Wars fan.

It occurred to me that if they can resurrect an actor no longer with us for this movie, they may do the same for episode 8. (Ghost Alec Guiness). I'm calling it now ! :lol

And with the glow effect it could actually be (even) more convincing too. If they did that I wonder who'd do the voice....Ewan McGregor?

Poor Warner Bros. They stupidly killed off Superman because they were certain that Cap was gonna die in Civil War. Then they go "okay fine audiences don't like dark movies we better not kill off too many people in Suicide Squad." Then Rogue One comes out...

They need to be like George Constanza and just do the literal opposite of whatever they think is best. :lol
