The Vader/Obi-Wan fight in ANH is even more unwatchable now.

Really wish that was one of the things Lucas corrected in the Blu-ray release (instead of Vader's Noooooooo!!!! line in ROTJ).

Haha yea. It surprises me that out of all the changes he made, he still never went back to fix the lightsaber effects in ANH by rotoscoping them. Its a simple fix, and a change that most people would actually agree with.

Luke's saber is still green while training on the Millennium Falcon!

I remember seeing footage of Hamill practising the swordfighting and damn if he wasn't just as good as McGregor and Christensen in the prequels. The simple fact is the OT duels were slower and less elaborate because of the Vader suit.

That video of him is so very bad ass and it even looks like modern fighting as well.

Yup,

Vader doesn't jump once, he simply walks no different than from ANH.

I am totally buying into your RO/ANH correlation there pal! :yess:

I absolutely consider Rogue One canon. Vader's lava castle goes back to an unused story concept for ROTJ with a McQuarrie painting to boot, his appearance in the bacta tank is consistent to his OT backstory, the "turbotank" is based on a Joe Johnston AT-AT sketch for ESB, and both Bail Organa and Moth Mothma are OT era characters established well before the prequels. I'm not going to be such an elitist that I forsake Smits or the Mon Mothma actress (who didn't even appear in the final cut of ROTS) just because they had the misfortune of being associated with the prequels.

That ain't right breh! You stretch out old poor ANH to conform to Rogue One with those mental gymnastics, but then Rogue One, which has clear references to the Revenge of the Sith and is a prequel itself, doesn't get that same treatment.

Your brain doesn't think that it's a little convenient that Rogue One Anakin has the same missing limbs as ROTS Anakin!? Clearly Rogue One Anakin didn't pay any heed to the high ground!

You know the deep dark truth. There are only two Star Wars films that exist in the same universe, this "canon" if you will. It's Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back. All the others need not apply.

The Empire is often associated with machinery while the Rebellion is more earthy, grounded in nature and organics. Tauntauns vs. Scout Walkers, camo that blends in with nature vs. contrasting black and white. Not always of course (the Rebels obviously fly ships and a few Troopers ride Dewbacks) but in general those are themes that favor each side. And more often than not machinery = bad, nature = good.

But I found it fascinating how RO even turned that on its head a bit. Once again with regard to ANH I found another scene that played completely differently. Vader's interrogation droid, the "mind probe" as he later called it. After the horrifying Cthuthlu-esque nightmare that read Bodhi's mind that little interrogation droid seems downright clinical and humane! And while Leia seemingly had a very quick recovery Bodhi was ****ed UP. A cool little moment showing that neither organics or technology are inherently good or bad as concepts, it all comes down to who is behind them and for what purpose they are used. A nice little flip there.

I never said I was in denial that as far as Disney is concerned all seven films are equally canon and that links will appear from time to time. Though with that said AOTC and ROTS sure made it seem like the Empire received fully complete DS construction plans from the Geonosians and were in no need of a Galen Erso to help engineer it. So in my mind even Disney is allowing fans to accept the prequels as a parallel but not fully viable backstory. I think not naming Mustafar in RO was another such indicator. In my mind that's just "Lava Planet" (thought for the sake of discussion I know full well it was "officially" Mustafar.)

You're right about that. I loled when every planet was getting a name card except for Mustafar when Krennic goes there. :lol I think that's just Disney trying to appease everyone. Prequel lovers get their thing, staunch OT only get theirs, etc. etc.

You better pray that those unholy preuqel elements such as Jar Jar or Anakin aren't featured in these TFA sequels of yours.

I'm glad I'm not in charge of these movies because I'd be ****ing with the fan base hard with my featured easter eggs. I'd make the Khev's and WEEJedi's and SNIKT's of the Star Wars fan base go into a foaming frenzy with my schenanigans . . . and they'd still go see it multiple times. Muahaha

I think the lava and all that gives it away :lol

No kidding. Hard to stay optimistic when Colin Trevorrow went off about how "Episode 9 should be a celebration of all eras of SW" or whatever. *Shudder*

That film is going to look gorgeous now that they're shooting the whole thing in 65mm.

I haven't notice anyone taking about this very important RO character: Vader's butler. Who is he? What's his backstory?

Think about it, Rey is good at everything, why wouldn't she take up Podracing. Anakin was the only human that had the reflexes to do it. Rey? She's a ****ing professional with all skills. Why pass up on being the first and only woman to pilot a podracer and win?

It's really Snoke. He was pulling the strings all along. We'll find this out in Episode 8.

Actually RO, ANH, and ESB form a nice trilogy with a similar tone and no goofy elements like Ewoks.
