PT fans (such as myself) will happily admit they weren't as well received... especially by fans of a certain age.

And TFA made more than all movies not directed by James Cameron.

"There weren't a lot of details divulged about this mysterious helmet, but it definitely seems like it will be some kind of Easter egg for Star Wars fans."

The helmet was the "tank trooper". It was originally going to be the death trooper helmet, they created a black version didn't like it then it got ditched for a while until Lucas liked it. Jesus, this stuff is out there in general media, these website writers are so ****ing stupid a lot of the time, spinning BS into other stories. Easter eggs?
Idiots.

Lucas should've messed with Gareth and told him how much he loves the Gungans lineage.

Allegedly he did come on set and acted like he hated all the practical stuff, suggesting loads of CG alternatives.
They apparently all pissed themselves with shock until he revealed he was joking with them an hour later.

I "heart" Lucas.

Isn't it amazing that his creation is the only movie property that has a dedicated yearly event.

No Terminator celebration.
No Predator celebration.
No Wizard of Oz celebration.
No Godfather celebration.
No Die Hard celebration.
No Aliens celebration.
No Avatar celebration.
No Batman celebration.
No Justice League celebration.
No Avengers celebration.
No Titanic celebration.
No Indiana Jones celebration.

It's very easy to dismiss him as the nut job responsible for the PT.

Then when you add ILM/THX into the equation.

Mind blowing.

I wouldn't mind a Cameron SW movie though.

Rogue One was close enough for me. A reprogrammed robot who helps the heroes (and eyes fade out when it dies), a female hero, wounded male hero at the end, nuking the site from orbit, etc. I can totally tell that Gareth likes all the same movies I do, lol.

Finally got to see the movie today and I prefer it a long way over TFA. Real fun.

Not so sure Gareth was responsible for last 40 minutes of RO- they were the best minutes of the experience

See, the reshoot drama no longer matters, critics and fans loved the movie which means Gareth can now accept all of the credit for the entire movie, all he had to do was remain a hollywood professional which he did.

Yep and his MO from the beginning seemed almost to necessitate reshoots to tie everything together. From what I've pieced together between interviews with Edwards and Ben Mendelsohn he shot like 10-20 versions of each scene to give him as many options as possible and see which moments and versions had the most "magic" to them. Then when they started cherry picking the best take from each scene and stringing them together they realized that they had been gravitating toward a certain tone that wasn't represented in all the other scenes so they went back and redid certain scenes so that they all matched and created a consistent film throughout.

In other words they took all the best scenes and let those scenes dictate which gaps needed to be filmed in order to create the best possible movie.

And you know what, it freaking WORKED. :bow

So...

he made a movie? :lol

Reshoots are nothing new, we just know too much about them because of the internet. but yes, this is usually the process and the reason why.

:lol

One thing that isn't ordinary is RO's artbook, a friend gifted it to me over the holiday, and hot damn is it ****ing rad. :lol

just amazing pieces in there.
