And Boba flailing about in the background was his Rogue One moment.

Christopher Nolan's father must've been 2nd unit director that day.

LOL to both posts! :lol

Star Wars threads are comedy gold today. Someone in the TFA Han and Chewie thread said that the new HT figure looks like "Chewie's mom in the morning." :rotfl

You know that if Rian Johnson makes Luke look awesome I'll be right there with crapping myself with my mouth wide open but I agree with TonTon and DiFabio. Luke had his RO Vader moment at the Sarlacc Pit and in the final moments against Vader. Plus his trench run and taking down an AT-AT with nothing but a lightsaber and a hand grenade.

And as awesome as Vader was in RO I was actually braced for him to suck. I was dreading another "spinning Palpatine" moment and even though that didn't happened I'm still a little apprehensive that they might go too far with Luke and do something equally stupid. LFL's on a roll though and maybe I should just trust that they won't go down that road. But still...

Yeah this is true, Vader just needed a single restrained action scene in full costume to complete his cinematic journey where Luke really has had his already.

Yeah my fear is now that Disney knows that the RO Vader scene was a rousing success that they will insert a flash back in either 8 or 9 of him doing Palpatine spins and somersaults. :lol

P.S. I will still squeal like a stuck pig during Luke's RO moment.

To me Rogue One is basically an "Extended Edition" of the OT. It isn't needed and if you don't like it you can ignore it but for those of us who like it or love it it just gives us more OT goodness that actually adds to the pre-existing narrative. Kind of like the extra colonist scenes in the ALIENS SE. We didn't really need to see Newt's family and other goings on with the workers and families but it does give extra context to what was lost prior to the "main" characters getting involved.

Or the LOTR EE's. All three EE's together probably add enough footage to almost total a fourth movie which again for better or worse gives a fuller context to the trilogy which is all the more impressive for RO considering it *wasn't* filmed at the same time as the OT a la ALIENS and LOTR EE footage.

But as enjoyable as TFA is it's basically "here we go again" and with RO scratching those last few SW itches (Vader unleashed, modern space AND land battles, extra hubs of scum and villainy without distracting CGI, etc.) then there just isn't much to justify any future retellings of the same basic conflict which until now was TFA's big claim to fame.

I like this description. I for one like this Extended Edition of ANH.

I liked Rogue One a lot, but don't find that comparison apt. Putting in deleted scenes that were shot at the time and have the same feel look and feel is one thing, but while Rogue One looks like the OT, it doesn't sound or feel like the OT to me really--bunch of random characters, designs, that we mostly never see again. Still feels exactly like what it is, a modern day flick, tacked on to the start of the story.

There are elements of the movie that feel much more seamless with the OT though, which is impressive, space battle, most of the Imperial officer scenes, some of the new ships, character designs. Be nice if a few of these Rebels v Empire movies have their own consistent feel to them, consistent to RO that is.
