Yesterday I flipped through the RO Visual Guide in a store and had to do a double take when I came to the page with this guy on it:

I thought what the hell? That's freaking horrifying. And then in the little blurb about the headless dude I see it mentioned the "Decraniated." So I flip back a page and there are supposedly *more* of these headless nightmares walking around Jedha. What is this, Hellraiser? Lol.

Headless or partially headless people walking around Jedha because they got tricked by a psycho surgeon into thinking that he'd heal them but instead they get turned into these hideous servants against their will? I thought that is freaking disturbing and had to see if they made it into the finished film, even for a second. So I popped in the blu-ray and skipped to Jedha where I ignored the foreground action and instead studied just the background extras in each shot. I never found the big guy above but sure enough when Saw's rebels attack the tank you do see a group of Imperial officers sitting at outdoor tables being served by these people!

And when the commotion begins the officers frantically flee while the Decraniated obliviously keep waiting on tables.

:horror I'll never think of RO and Jedha again, maybe that place *should* have been destroyed.

Gross but pretty awesome, that detail off on the margins of the screen. That's very 1977 Star Wars... one of the many reasons why Rogue One is just so cool and re-watchable.

I'm pretty certain its stock will only grow as time goes on and more newbies discover it. I have a feeling it might be remembered better than the ST trilogy, but we'll know better come this December if Rian really has turned this thing around.

Yes it calls to mind those moments in the OT that were surprisingly shocking. Captain Antilles' neck vertebrae audibly snapping, Owen and Beru's charred bodies, the intestines spilling out of the Tauntaun, and then as you said things in the background like "is that a giant praying mantis at the end of the bar??" or the one background Spider Droid in ROTJ that carries a disembodied human brain in a clear glass jar. These little moments here and there that hint at the galaxy being an unsettling and sometimes terrifying place just off screen.

Yes we'll have to see how TLJ turns out but to this day I can't get over how awesome those 360 degree RO sets are. Taking the exterior matte painting of the Yavin IV Rebel base and building a complete hangar *and adjoining exterior* that the actors could seamlessly walk out to. Places like that and Jedha made SW come to life like never before.

Same with Scarif. Oh yeah Clown Prince feel free to pop the blu-ray in and skip to the Special Feature about designing the look of the movie. Five minutes in they show the cameras shooting Jyn and Cassian's final scene, on a real outdoor beach. ;)

But otherwise the decision to kill everyone off was just so brilliant and gives such gravitas to not only the RO battles but the entire OT as a result. And they didn't have to do that. They could have annoyingly "franchised out" these characters. Saying that they escape or whatever and continue to have peripheral adventures to the main OT cast. Rogue Two, Rogue Three, Jyn's team is off scouting Echo Base locations, meeting with Bothans, etc. Thank God they gave us this one singular story that has only two of the greatest films of all time (SW/ESB) as it's "sequels" and nothing else.

One thing I ****ing loved about Rogue One was the sense of scale.

J.J. didn't even try with TFA.

Look at this hologram, the Starkiller is bigger than the Death Star!

The Republic planets that are many light years away are being destroyed! Let's all go outside and watch it in the sky like it's a giant television set.

Everything felt so small and close together.

Caysin Bog, one character that will never be an action figure. Although its perfect for Sideshow, no head sculpt to screw up.

That is really cool though, pretty grotesque for Star Wars, ish he made it into the final film.

Holy crap Caysin Bog is in the finished movie. Right after the grenade explodes under the tank at Jedha. Pause the movie at the 31:16 mark and he's right there, plain as day, upper right corner of the screen, big old hole where his head used to be. :thud: Literally just a split second though.

You can see more of him on the blu-ray but here's the only screenshot I could find:

https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net...kirmish.png/revision/latest?cb=20170510234246

Where's my figure Sideshow/Hot Toys/Hasbro/Funko/Lego.

Now I have to try and find which scene this guy is in:

You could practically make an entire movie around *each* of RO's background characters.

Wow! That's cool! Now I have to watch again tomorrow.

I like your latest pic too, seems like many of the coolest character designs (no offense Two Tubes) are nearly impossible to detect in the actual movie, except by you, of course.

Edit - Tam Posla looks very much like those Red Pirate guys in TFA.

And now I just noticed his Mandalorian style helmet scope.

Wonder if "RooFoo" had a hand in altering Saw Gerrera.

I'm gonna watch RO again this weekend just to catch all the background stuff Khev posted. :lol

Please report back once you have spotted Tam Posla haha. I really like his design and the added back story for all these 'blink and you miss em' side characters is very cool.

AND... I just ordered the Rogue One Visual guide - look what you all made me do!

*waits for Lucasfilm commission check to come in the mail*

Well, it's a giant weapon of mass destruction and only white men are truly evil enough to create something like that.

White men and giant humanoid cicada bug things.

Speaking of the OT and PT, it's a shame Tarkin and a Dooku never met. Dooku giving Tarkin the plans and interacting with would have been cool, for obvious reasons.

That woulda definitely been a good scene. ..RO > Entire ST
