Just received Luke and Vader with base in the mail about five minutes ago. I have not opened them yet as I'm at work, but they look fantastic in the package. Minor nitpick - Luke's hair seems to be a lot more "gold" in hand than the photos I've seen. No biggie though.

Also, isn't there a trick to make Vader appear taller?

Congrats! You can make him look taller by pulling his legs. Joint allows it to extend a bit and he looks much better for it.

Yeah no doubt about that. Honestly I'm so looking forward to seeing Luke in action in TFA. My hope is that he will have at least one epic battle that is on par with the Obi, Qui-gon, Maul duel. I think with the benefit of some modern fight choreography he will not seem as underpowered as both he and Vader did in the OT.

Really? I don't know, I have my doubts.

Maul fought 2 jedis at the same time, one at his physical prime and one with tons of experience, and he was only beat due to terrible writing he had already technically beaten both.

I doubt Luke had the same lightsaber ability as Maul, and he only fought an old past his prime Vader who could barely move due to his armor/suit.

Luke has him beat with the force though, probably.

Vader's swordsmanship in ESB was actually excellent; it was very technical and didn't waste energy.

Luke never looked very good; Maul looked a match for Vader in physical combat but in-universe Vader was probably more powerful with his "sorcerer's ways".

I like what they did with him; he's all that without (for the moment) appearing superhero-(villain)-video-game-like.

Yeah I don't dispute Vader, he was a master, I imagine he can do a lot of damage with minimal movement, pure technique.
