I think some of you forgot what Power Rangers were....lol
I keep trying to find a scene where they skimped on the cgi and I still can't find any and honestly this looks like it will be super cheesy fun.
This march looks pretty damn fun overall with Logan, Kong, PR and GITS leading the charge.
Then with a big blunder at the 2018 Oscars they announce "Best picture goes to...Power Rangers!"
Chap it is now our life mission to get that envelope into their hands!
Meet me around back in 20.
PriceWaterhouseCoopers you have met your match!
Been watching super sentai zyurangers (the show mmpr took all its footage from) and I like it far better. The mythology is richer. I wish the Japanese show got that big budget treatment and kept pretty much the same themes just grittier and more adult-ish. Like instead of characters like king sphinx just being clay monsters put in a easy bake oven, have them be resurrected from their respective mythologies. And I love the Rangers being ancient warriors and the zords being gods.

The problem for me isn't the fact that they are taking the material seriously. Power Rangers mostly played its mytharc fairly straight. I really don't think that a goofy "GotG" type feel. In fact the original series is a great candidate for a modern update in a culture that loves to do them.
For me the problems are in the design. Every single design I see for this movie just makes me hate it more.
From the exoskeleton costumes that aren't even the same basic type of the original design, the organic looking morpher and power coins, to Goldar looking like he was sculpted out of cheese, to that bizarre looking CGI Alpha, the mostly monochromatic Bay-era Transformers-esque Zords, to the Pin-Art Zordon. There is almost nothing here that even took the most basic design inspiration from the original show. Everyone and everything is completely unrecognizable.
I'm Lydia Deetz and I'm of sound mind. The man next to me is the one I want. You asked me, I'm answering. Yes, I love that man of mine.

For anyone saying that you can't update the original source material to be darker and modern while still remaining recognizable, check out the Boom Studios comics. They are doing the job great.
