It isn't like the teen drama in the original set some high bar that this has to meet, so I don't understand why that's even being complained about. The teen drama was just something to say to little kids that were glued to a superhero show, almost like a subtle PSA. This isn't that, and I wouldn't want the studio to patronize the intelligence of the fans.

People worried about teenage angst are mistaken. Just naming the concept teenage angst is not sufficient. Almost all movies have some form of drama on an elementary level. How one can adequately interpret this teaser as meeting this concept just shows that people came in with a bias to begin with. That's ok, of course. But I did not get a dose of perceiving any outrageous teenage drama from this. I think that's just based on what people worry this movie will be about. None of us know though. Taking the teaser in for what it is can be the only thing logical to do here.

Their purpose in life will be shaped by their discovery anyways.

That's a good point, everything in their lives becomes nil when they meet Zordon and they are given a completely different purpose.

I take that as them trying to fit in the time. Hip Hop was huge at the time and they wanted to get that audience. That TMZ reporter was just trying to make something out of nothing.

The bigger issue was the Gay slurs aimed at David Yost on set.

Would it be better if they just pigeonholed the Black ranger as a stereotype? He's going to be the brains of the group. How is that a problem? In this PC oversensitive society, you can't make anyone happy with this type of ****. It's a film for kids, calm down.
