This one is gonna be EXTREMELY difficult to say no to. I'm truly digging what I'm seeing so far. I HATED the cloth costume on the 1st PF. If this is fully sculpted, I'm going to have a difficult time passing on it. The only reason I'm even hesitating is because I don't like to support variants. At almost $500, I'd like to see something new, not a rehash of an old sculpt. If this looks as good as I expect it to, that'll be enough to break me. I already know if I order the new brown Wolvie PF, I'll be picking this up as well. The muramasa blade will tie these 2 pieces together nicely for me.

For the record, I do agree with peeps saying a new Sabretooth PF is crazy when we still haven't seen a Mags or Phoenix PF after all these years. SSC is leaving so many great X-characters on the table.

Since it seems they intend this Sabretooth to companion the Brown Wolverine I can see it making sense to revisit him now even though other characters haven't been done yet. Both statues together will make a cool display reflecting 80s era X-Men, which isn't a bad thing.

But I agree with your sentiments. But for me $500 for a variant is a pass. Plus I just like the 90s costume better than the older costume used on this PF anyway, so the appeal is even further struck down for me.

At $500+ per character these variants, costumes I'm not fond of and characters who aren't my must haves will be nice to look at in pics but I won't be ordering them. Still hoping out they complete the 90s/Jim Lee era X-Men...Prof. X, Iceman, Archangel, real white costume Storm, Bishop, Jubilee and Beast. That's over $3k right there if they ever mange to get it done, not including characters they haven't done yet like Magneto, Dark Phoenix, Mr. Sinister and Juggernaut (and I'm probably not spending what it would take to buy a true 1/4 Juggernaut at this point).

Two years ago and would be all over this and Wolverine! Now not so much. These pieces are over $600.00 in Canada now and just not worth it to me anymore. Especially for a variant!

Price is gettin out of hand. Will just look at these statues from online.

SSC is really starting to kill some of their international business with the continued price hikes...

they certainly will lose some business (both domestic and international) as prices continue to increase.

But, it will do nothing to impact their bottom line.

If you sold oranges, would you rather sell 1000 at $10 each or 750 at $15 each?

In my view, prices will continue to rise until that "sweet spot" of profitability is achieved. And we ain't there yet folks.

Your oranges theory only works if SSC lowers ES and that hasn't happened.

Kinda similar to the Classic X-men imprint that reprinted the early Uncanny X-men comics issues back in the day. I got into the X-men through those issues and the Steve Lightle covers were beautiful.

I for one am interested to see how this tweaked Sabertooth turns out.

Yep, I loved that series. Great way to catch up on older issues without paying the back issue prices. And I loved John Bolton's artwork in the earlier issues.

There ya go, one of my favorite X-men cover's as well

Yep, this is my favorite comic book cover of all time, and may have been an influence for the Wolvie sculpt, but unfortunately the PF sculpt ain't matching what Alan Davis did. "Classic" Sabretooth is actually much more appropriate for brown than yellow Wolvie, since the bulk of the time Wolvie was in the brown suit (entire decade of the 1980s basically), this is what Sabretooth looked like, particularly around the time of the Mutant Massacre, Inferno, etc.

Fantastic issue and Alan Davis' art was always one of my favorite artists; loved his run on Excalibur when he wrote it himself. Still remember the panel in that issue where Wolverine has his claws embedded in Sabretooth's thigh and Sabretooth had clawed at Logan's face. Classic line from Sabretooth..."We're not the same...you kill...I'M A KILLER" (I'm sure I got the dialogue wrong after 25+ years, LOL).

So this is going to be similar to the Bowen version on the far left of this pic?

what I mean to say is that edition sizes and prices will continue to rise until SS reaches the "$15 / 750" in my silly example. The "lost customers" due to increasing prices is irrelevant to the bottom line.

The "lost customers" due to increasing prices is irrelevant to the bottom line.

It will become relevant pretty quickly when enough customers don't see the value in the ever increasing Sideshow pricing structure. There's a lot of competition for collectible dollars these days. Also those $15 oranges cost more for the company when they sit in their warehouse for months and months unsold or require discounted prices to move them all.
