Isn't the weta the only version around for the past 10 years?

I've always preferred SS's stuff over WETA...just really can't get into the plain,black,different-shape-for-each-character bases...I'm a bit OCD and I never liked how the bases clashed with each other on display shelves...I like having everything looking neat and "together".Also think they botched so many likenesses(particularly as I am primarily a "good-guy" collector)that I never really got into them.The SSW Sauron is nice from the waist up..but his legs are waaaay to puny looking IMO...it is a nice pose though.

I feel like the Weta version is more proportionately accurate than the SS PF. I don't know why but from every angle the PF's head looks slightly bigger than it should be. For the record, I don't have the Weta version and I do have the PF on preorder.

I agree. The head looks a touch too big and the legs maybe a touch too small. I love the look of the PF, but I think the pose of the Weta is far better.

As far as I've seen all the Weta pieces have the same base, whereas the Sauron PF has a totally different base than the rest of the PF line, so I'm confused as to what you are saying.

All the WETA statues have the same STYLE base yes,but they are all different shapes,so if you are packing many onto one shelf,you are stuck displaying each statue in one set position(which may not be the best angle for that particular piece)in order to fit with the other bases...am I making sense yet?!! I apologise if I'm not!!

Pretty much. Though, Gentle Giant did a bust of Sauron. Which was a pretty cool piece and Sideshow did a dio with Sauron.

I get what you're trying to get at. They're all the same oval shape but different sizes of that oval. I love the bases and glad they're using it on The Hobbiy statues. It does make for a great display but I also love the bases Sideshow uses. I love that it gives you a slight dio feel to the statue and what might have been going on in that moment.

So how can people say its the definitive sauron when it's the only sauron?

I always liked the weta but I passed when it came out since I didn't want to get into that line and I always thought he was too small for sauron, I feel like this is going to be the definitive sauron.

Because of how good the statue is and the moment it captures from the movies. It's a great statue so and I had it for a long time. I agree its a great statue can captures the character exactly how he looked in that moment.

The PF is going to be amazing based on what they had at comic-con last year. It's one of the best pieces I've seen for any license.

Well, that may be a good thing. If they moved it that fast it may be that they know for sure it will be Sept. instead of waiting until Aug to move it again like they do when they don't have a solid date.

I was pretty close when I said Q4, oh well, like I said, the extra couple of months gives me time to look at display options

Sounds like you just need more shelf space

I know...I'm kind of a freak lol...my obsessive perfectionism means I fetish every single minute detail...it's actually quite problematic!!
