If Sauron ends up having amazing production quality, I think he'll get up to that 2k mark. It's hard to compare him to 2k statues cause he almost became one himself by SS, so he's such a bargain in comparison to them. I believe that's why he has a big ES.

As impressive as Azog is I will tell you Sauron is everybit as good. He's gotta be one of SS best Lord of the Rings pieces if not their best.

I dont know why people are concerned with the es? Factor in that 1500 in the world isnt that many, minus a percentage of broken statues and you"ll have less than that. I dont forsee there being anymore Sauron statues being made at this scale. Thats it. Tack this up as a definitive Sauron statue. The people that get him are going to be happy that they snatched him up now, rather than trying to get him on the secondary market at inflated prices or you'd be lucky to come across one if anyone was even willing to let this bad boy go.

I think it is quite a lot when you factor in the prices they charge in the name of exclusivity. That said, it pales in comparison to the 5000 of the Vader Mythos for example.
Personally, I'd be happy if sideshow got rid of limited numbers all together and lowered the prices substantially, why shouldn't more people enjoy these things just so we can brag about being one of a thousand or so others that have a statue...
I've debated this point for years. 1500 pieces isn't that many. Will less items sell more quickly? Sure because there are less of them to sell. It doesn't hurt some people are as fascinated by having something with an edition size of 500 or less. 1500 is only a lot when you're more concerned about the ES than the item itself. The RWOS from SSW had an ES of 5k made and is one of the best pieces from that line and still one of the most expensive ones on the secondary market. So IMO its more about the item and the quality if it than so much the ED. Now, I won't argue a low ES isn't nice but there are more than 1500 LOTR collectors out there. It will sell slow because if the price not the ES.

The Weta Sauron was 9500 and there are not enough of him to go around so 1500 does not seem much when you think about it. People would not be complaining if there was an ex of 500 and a reg for 1000 which is how they should have done it, but I am just glad they made him at all.
