I'm getting Sauron this week, but have commissioned a very talented person to repaint it. The plan is to repaint his armor with a realistic silver (mirachrome paint), blackish tone washes and subtle rusted look. Also adding LED light to his eyes and replacing the V shape armor piece below his waist with a chain link material

We are going back and forth working out the details now. The project won't start until end of Feb. Also, I don't plan to keep the orange lava reflection. I will rely on lighting for that affect.

Why? I don't think humidity is that high in the basement but all statues are wrapped in their plastic. Should I worry?

It depends on a lot of things. My basement where my stuff is doesn't run hot at all but if you do a high humidity could be an issue. Another thing to think about is flooding an issue in your basement.

Basements tends to get moist and humid, and if it gets intense it can eat through boxes. Happened to my star wars collection when it got really damn. Granted that was a shed and not a basement, but if you took care to wrap them all in plastic I think you should be good so long as the temperature is never too extreme.

What happened to your starwars collection? Statues got damaged or only the brown and display box?

I would definitely make sure you have plenty of silica-gel packets if you are storing statues for a long time. A couple of years ago after storing my SSW Morgul Lord statue for a year, it had condensation on it when I finally opened it again.

Just got #25 and he's damaged. :-(

Also, before taking it out of the box, is it normal that the torso and legs seems to be two parts?

Hi Freaks!
Please help me a little.
My friend got his Sauron but it is damaged at the right leg. (it is broken down in multiple pieces)
The white "box" looked that way.

In my opinion the tape is too yellow (not so clear SS usually use), and it is taped plumb too. It is normally? Or it was opened by someone and repacked? What do you think?

Thanks!

My sauron is Dead. :(

That broken Sauron really blows. Sorry to see it but I would think SS will replace it.

I opened mine last night and I'm just blown away. I had seen it at the store and at sdcc, but having it in my home is a whole other thing. This is a new level of collecting for me and instantly the coolest thing I own. It's on the very short list of things I would never, ever sell.

I had a picture to upload, but ran into a new problem with the new site... Says my photobucket link file is too large and won't give me the option to OK a local file.

It was my old POTF collection. Boxes were decimated, wet, torn, moldy. Figures were mostly ok, but some were damp and the paint a bit crumby. No statues.

Was there no ventilation or was the roof leaking or something like that? That sounds like a lot of damage for being in storage.
