I would like to get this but it just depends on the price for me. So many great PF's coming out or in the works now.

I have 19 things on order right now and two more I'm debating on. All but the last two are suppose to ship by the end of the year. It's just hard to throw on another $1,000 on top of that, especially when it's ONE piece.

:sigh:

More than $1,000? Hmm, may pick up another RWOS instead then. I'll still wait to see if this has a raised hand.

Actually the movie Sauron at 1:4 scale will only be 26.7 inches tall. Much less than 3feet and smaller than Ringwraith on steed which stands at 31 inches.

So size-wise there is no reason why Sauron PF cannot be priced in the same ballpark as Ringwraith steed PF.

The only problem is if Sauron turns out to be another "gollum PF" with a giant rocky mordor base than we might see a huge hike in price cuz we have already seen how much sideshow can really pad up the size just with polystone rock alone.

There is no chance a 3ft tall Sauron is gonna be less than the rwos pf.

Yeah I see the point raised in Gollum's base since he's such a short character but there should not be a huge base under Sauron that adds to the cost.

Well, I'm willing to bet that Sauron will be at least 31in tall.

I keep staring at the Reaper pics and can't believe I may buy that thing. But if Sauron comes in with this level of detail, forget it - bought. Now that I see that an LSF piece can come in at 1k I sort of wish they did do Sauron as an LSF (although as a licensed piece it would likely not be this cheap I suppose) to get the real fine level of detailing on the armor. Here's hoping the PF comes in looking this good.

In the first picture we saw of this they had a measuring tape held next to him,if memory serves it said 80cm

Yeah, that's a good place to start. I mean things can change but it should still be around that.

There we go folks.

Looks like we can all expect 5 inches of polystone rock!

No, I'd be will to bet that's just Sauron and the overall piece will push it past the 31.5 in

Oh, yeah. I think he's easily gonna push 3 feet in overall height.

If Jerry's painting is anything to go by (and I think that's the plan) ... then he should have a fair chunk of rock and bones underfoot. I would guess it'll be a thick-ish wedge slanting down from the rear towards the front. And another couple of inches for the decorative base ring that all the LOTR PFs have.

But he actually needs to have a pretty heavy base. That's the way they engineer these pieces. You want to make sure the bottom is the heaviest part. Otherwise his center of gravity would be too high and he'd be too easy to tip over. :lecture

What makes u say that?

If Sauron is 31.5 inches or more, he will not be 1:4 scale.

Regardless of whatever scale he actually turns out to be, Sideshow confirmed months ago that the figure itself is 80cm/31.5in tall.

Add to that number five or six inches for a base substantial enough for a statue this big ... and a bit under three feet for the overall piece seems a reasonable guess.

As said above the pic shows a rough guess and then you add the base. As far as scale something like Sauron because of how tall he is listed will always be a bit out of the true 1:4 scale.

I'm too lazy to look for that painting. Wasn't there questions about the pose in that?

There is a reference of the painting on page 105 of this thread, Ween. :wave

I think the issue some people had with the pose was the left leg.

Bill

Yup the left leg was it. The early reveal photo here plus the new video pretty much confirm that the statue follows JV's painting closely in this regard. i am still holding out hope it works well in 3D and those who have seen the proto work are positive. If they achieve the armoring detail of the Grim Reaper LSF then this may be a huge hit.
