I recently received my Ursus, now my Gorillas are complete.

BTW, Samueljd, are the tips of your Ursus' helmet folded up?

Thanks Ray,

your actually right, I didn't even notice. I just took him out of the box as is and put the helmet on. I'm going to have to blow dry the tips down.

Hey ape lovers, I am thinking about picking up a Gorilla Soldier and was wondering what I need to look out for. Are there any defects I should check for? Also what is a good price to pay, and lastly how do you stylize that hair? Thanks for any and all help.

Glad you all like the hair work. I'll try to answer the questions now...
Jess: Chris gets her hair(?) from RestoreDoll.com; the type is called CatSilk. She does her own perming and setting. Anita's hair was a different type, that comes pre-permed. Chris is not as fond of it, mostly because the palette is limited. As to apes, she's not interested( I'm the simiophile)...
Ironman: She says it won't work. Apparently, Tyr has molded hair and a hard vinyl head, which makes it very hard to re-root.
Chris appreciates your comments; sometimes she underestimates her own work(don't we all?);hearing from new, objective(right!) sources gives one a bit of an ego boost...PS

lastly how do you stylize that hair? Thanks for any and all help.

I opened up the vest, and used my hand to gently pat down the hair and push it back. Then I closed the vest over the ends of the hair.

I feel like it looks neater (and shorter) with out having to risk trimming it.

Ray - I like your gorilla photo for a couple of reasons:

1. The color of the hair seems dark brown, rather than blackish. I really do like that! I don't have any of the Hot Toys gorillas and I had thought that the hair on all of the gorillas was closer to a black color. That color in your photo looks really good!

2. I also like the profile picture you took of this gorilla because you tamed the heck out of his hair! That's how it should be! (I'd really like to see someone actually cut his hair to the length shown and then use the extra hair to re-glue over the horrible hairline on his face.)

Did you hear the news?

"Planet of the Apes" Prequel is No More
Posted: January 9th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

About a year ago, we reported that 20th Century Fox hired Scott Frank (The Lookout) to write and direct a "Planet of the Apes" prequel. The goal was to remake the 1972 film "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes."

Chud is now reporting that Frank has left the project and Fox is not currently looking to replace him. Apparently Frank wrote a draft, which the studio didn't like, calling it too expensive and too dark. So after the director's exit, the entire project was shelved.

The prequel was going to be called "Caesar" and would have focused on the origins of how the Apes took over Earth. A hyper-intelligent chimp raised by humans incites a worldwide ape revolution and causes the downfall of mankind.

I'm SOOOO glad this idea died. I'm getting too old... I don't think my heart could take another reboot. :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

Proto - Have you heard anything more about the new apes book or on the release of the newer Conspiracy cards?

Did I read something here that the date was pushed back from the spring of 2010 into the fall of 2010 for the new book? Can't remember.

Check this out: Snickertowns spaceship and a new deal from BLAM.

Nice picture Ursus.

Wow the cards are still available? I might have to pick-up a set. Did any of you that pre-ordered these cards a while back, also get the Cornelius Exclusive card? These look cool but they just aren't anything I really collect, but they're ape related. I can't resist. :whip

Sticks - check out this neat picture I found today. Did you ever see this? I'm seeing it for the 1st time and I really think it's great!

I wanted the entire image, so I cleaned it up the thumbnail picture (shown below) and made it "whole" earlier today. Wish I could have found the actual picture. Oh well...

Anyways, click on this web-link to see this same enhanced photo image that I made "whole" using the Paint Software on my PC.

Check it out here:

You know, I'm not sure if I've ever seen that exact picture but I've seen similiar images of Devinci Man/Ape.

I am hoping to build a shelf today to host all my Native American figures while I'm still here in CT. Another 3 weks to go before I head back to Seattle. :)

No news... but I haven't really been searching for any. Both projects (book and card set) have fallen off my radar... the holidays have been the center of my life for the past several weeks. It's amazing how much time playing Santa eats. (And no, I wasn't dressed up as the big guy at a local mall... the "playing Santa" comment is meant figuratively).

A good resource for any news of the book and cards is either the Forum of the Apes or the Yahoo Apes group both of which I don't frequent as much as I'd like.

I think Jess broke the news a few pages back about the Dr. Cornelius card and the book delay I believe. Am I right, Jess?

BTW... that Cornelius card looks cool.

I'm also relieved. I saw that when it was first posted. I am just so tired of huge disappointments like that Burton fiasco.

Angel where did you find that photo? I was doing some research for costumes late last night and I encountered the DaVinci/storm trooper one...and I thought it would be cool if someone made one of an ape.

Last I heard of the Conspiracy book is that it will be available by SDCC 2010.

Neil posted a photo of an original oil painting from serendipityartsales on the DG. It looks like it could have been from the book.

Damn. Only one more weekend left before the Star Trek convention. I started the wig and need to finish it up. I think the hardest part will be keeping the wig on my head and preventing it from sliding off. My neck is going to hurt from the weight of a hundred bobby pins. This is the first time I am going to augment my hair. I usually just wear a cap and an entire wig.
