A friend of mine hit the roof after he heard Steve Aoki's re-mix. He called it an "affront to GitS fans".
I told him to relax, chill out and go listen to something more his speed; like Taylor Swift.
Like everything, it's all subjective.

Taylor Swift probably has better production than this "make sick bassline in 10 minutes with frootloops", step 1: import bassline.
There's really no new take on the music, it's a remix, he just took the samples of what I assume is the actual theme of this movie, because it's different from the original, and slapped the above mentioned complextro bassline, probably didn't take him more than 1 or 2 days to make. Only like 10% of this sounds like Aoki's work, and none of it in the composition, obviously.
Imagine if they got JXL, he still would've been the wrong choice but the music would've been better and not just a cheap remix.

Yup, I'm not against remixes but they chose the wrong genre for GITS, and the most basic one at that. I feel like this is 2010 and festival kids are raving over this week's filthy drop.Dunno about "affront to GitS fans", but it IS an affront to people with a good taste in music.
I'm just glad that they've got Clint Mansell for the score.
