Got this little guy a few weeks ago.

Cool! What did you name it?

Our little buddy George died a week ago today. I didn't have the heart to post about it until today.

Here are the last two pictures I ever took of him:

And here he is in his favorite spot:

It doesn't feel the same in my collection room. :(

Maglor, I am so sorry to hear that. I know he meant a lot to you. How long was he a part of your family for? Was he very old?

Thank you Allison.

We got him from the Humane Society at age 4. We had him for 3 1/2 years. There is a sign at our local pet store that says rabbits live up to 8 years, so we feel like he lived out a nice long life. His age was showing - you can see the white hairs on his nose and ears in those pics - but he was happy and energetic up until the end.

Rabbits do this silly little sideways spontaneous hop thing referred to as a "binky", and it's a sign that they are happy. George did a couple of those the week he died.

We believe his kidneys failed.

Sorry to hear that, man! At least you know you did everything to make your pet happy and that he was loved til the end! When I think like this about my recently deceased dog I tend to feel much better!

Thank you everybody.

We have no regrets. We rescued him from the humane society. Last year we nursed him to health through an illness, after which he was the most energetic and fun we had ever seen him. Glad we could give him a good life.

I lost one of my girls two weeks ago. She went in for adrenal surgery and was doing fine after her surgery. We got her home and she was doing great and then suddenly she was gone. She took her last breath in my wife's arms. We think she had a seizure or stroke. She was really smart, you could see her trying to figure out a problem, especially if it was something that she wanted to steal. We really miss our little baby bear, she had just turned 4. It still hurts to talk about it, I missed out on a lot of her short life due to my job which always has me away from home. She helped me through a rough time in my life, she was always there to cuddle up with me and give me her little crazy kisses. Here are some pics of her and her big sister. Her name was Gorgo and her sister is Akasha. Kash is missing her as well.

I'm sorry for your loss. :(

I've always wanted a ferret but I hear they are kinda smelly and you have to bath them a lot.

Thanks Ween

Actually they are the complete opposite. If you give them frequent baths it strips the oils from their skin and fur. I have owned several over the years and none of them have ever smelled bad. You do have the keep their house and litter box cleaned, they really do poop a lot! They are really fun and each has their own personality. I just hope Kash does okay without her sister, they had a pretty strong bond.

I had seen that on tv about the odor and bathing them quite often. About how long do they live?

The usual life span is between 9 and 11 years. I had a male that was a little over 9 when we lost him. They can have some major health problems that start developing between 3 and 4 years of age. That is what happened with Gorgo, she developed adrenal disease which causes them to lose their hair and other problems. The popular solution to that is to remove the over active adrenal gland. We thought we were doing the best thing for her by getting her fixed, now I am not so sure. It is typically a routine surgery, but we are finding out now that she have have been slightly diabetic. It sucks that they get cheated with such a short life span. All they want to do is play and give you love and affection.

sorry for your loss, Maglor.

I too lost my pet bunny, Creampuff about 2 months ago.
