I forget which member did that and with a great result. But no, I cleaned off R2's grime instead.

I kid, I kid.... I'm really looking forward to 3PO after getting R2. The Tami is nice, I considered buying him several times, but I'd rather have dirty than clean. And I'd rather they both were made of the same material. Since Sideshow is plastic Hot Toys will likely do diecast if they ever get around to them.

I'm glad that didn't happen. But with how stupid some of GL's ideas were for the PT, I wouldn't be surprised if he already thought of that.

I figure the Sideshow will be my distressed one and I'll keep the Tamashii clean... no reason not to have two in the collection especially as I'd loose money on selling the Tamashii at this point

I did not know that... it makes me dislike him a little less, but still a cheap move to add him into the movies and this character was just generally awful in TPM and AOTC.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Wor-Gar again.

The Tama head is way better than the SSC head (which IS wonky, whether people choose to "overlook" it when taking in the overall or not,) and I'm amazed that people are essentially comparing the Tama production piece to the SSC hand-painted prototype.

There's so much discussion about SSC's proto vs. production gap in every other thread - except here. Given SSC's delivery of stuff like Ark of the Covenant and non-chrome Destro, I see some issues ahead given that 3PO is supposed to be high-polish chrome with layers of grime over it - yet the proto doesn't (to me) really capture that, while still looking quite nice.

IG-88 had problems because of weathering paint clogging fine joints - and that will be a major issue here given the fineness of 3PO's joints. Look at the wide variety of engineering issues with SSC R2 - now think about 3PO's shoulder/arm articulation plus lots of weathering paint over the top of it.

I'm getting this figure because I need two 3PO's (so will have the best of both worlds until HT does their 3PO) so I guess I'll be dealing with this first-hand.

One point though - I really hope SSC doesn't delay 3PO like Han Hoth has been (and yes, that figure was a year from PO to release even BEFORE the port issues,) because if HT teases a 3PO in the final month or two before release, there may be mass cancellations of this figure...

Noticed 3po has'nt got any love for a while... Personally i am really anticipating his release, and november/december can't come soon enough.
So i thought i'd ask a question that occured to me about his light-up feature (eyes) Do you guys think it will be a switch behind the face to turn on the eyes like the tamashi, or a hidden button/switch located somewhere on ssc 3po's head.
I would'nt think sideshow could just copy tasmashi on their feature, could they?

It seems like poor 3PO has been forgotten about here, but it looks like they DID improve the paintjob quite a bit. It appears much glossier now, and is it just my imagination or is the head a bit narrower as well?

Mouth is still a bit too high, but everything else looks really good to me.
