My R2 review (sorry in advance to those who are happy with this)... **In my opinion** its 70% garbage. It looks good on display, in fact it can look GREAT when displayed properly, because the sculpt and look of it is the most accurate R2 we have gotten so far. BUT.. its a cheap, flimsy pile of badly constructed plastic bits. It feels cheaper than a Happy meal toy. Bits falling off all over, plastic seams down the front of the dome, bizzare paint app choices, faulty wiring, rough plastic runner tears, and to turn the thing on you have to pull the head off, then watch the flickering lights blink on and off as the circuitry decides if its gonna work or not. Then try to get the badly fitting dollar shop plastic head back on. The **** that comes out of his head? Jesus H christ, what a design disaster.

Great initial sculpt, unfathomably cheap production.

After Drake, Yoda (mine fell to bits), R2 and by the look of it Solo, I'm done with SS. The prices they are charging do not equate to what they are shipping.
Great protos, so some real talent in there, but incredibly cheap production. Just not good enough SS.

Was that the new yoda Rory? Not the empire one

Yeah, the prequel one. I was never really impressed by the head sculpt, but I thought it looked like a fun set. First one I picked up in Forbidden Planet, got it home, it was broken in the box. I got it replaced, the second one had cracked plastic legs and sloppy paint. Got a refund and ordered from SS, I got one which had exactly the same issues. One loose leg, one fused arm, wouldn't move, sloppy paint and cracked plastic. Gave up and painted my Medicom.

:lol

What? You have McDonalds in Maine right? I've been in one in Portland.
:lol

I got a prequel Yoda body and yeah, it fell apart. Had to reglue it (and that was NOT an easy job because it's so small.) I actually assembled that whole figure (with full set of hands) for under $40 because all the parted stuff I guess didn't sell and was going for cheaper. You'd think a green Samuel L Jackson portrait with pointed ears would fly off the shelves.:lol

Really? I thought Jedi Yoda was home run and Empire was the silly green one. I put the extra head and hands on the Empire one. Good enough for me. I've posed them both quite a bit with no issues.

The Medi one looked to frail and sickly.

Even eye rollin' she's hawt.

Nah, the Medi one is very sturdy, mind you it doesn't really ****ing move. :lol

(..And she looks even hotter with the eye rolls.)

:exactly: I had that in-hand and resold it within a month.

The ESB Yoda I held onto for longer... but honestly, I think I liked the log and snake more than the figure. Now THAT was a snake that Sideshow nailed sculpt-wise.:lol

When we met she had her own computer and a killer bj technique. What a bait and switch that turned out to be :monkey2
She should work for Sideshow :lecture

Tell us how you really feel.

PJB rocking the cheap R2 toy. :rock

I'm amazed that the cheap and scrawny R2 doesn't look even cheaper and scrawnier next to 3PO's giant pistons and restraining bolt.

Just to add my two cents, I get what Evilface, Devil and Rorywan are saying. As good as they look together, while posing them I couldn't help noticing the contrast in their respective qualities. Theepio is built like a tank with heavy, solid materials and nice strong joints while Artoo seems made from the cheapest plastics, with flimsy door hinges and accessories that barely hold up or fit together. And say what you will about the Taito clock, but at least its periscope and extended arm stay up easily when extended and its third leg descends at the right length.

Having said all that, given how Sideshow's offerings can vary so wildly in quality, I still consider their R2-D2 a success. While far from perfect, it's packed with features, has a nice array of painted and weathered finishes (especially after giving that dome with an alcohol swab) and is still the best looking 1/6 Artoo to date. Of course, the mind boggles at what Hot Toys can do in the near future, but who knows how long that will be and at what price point. I'm still rooting for Sideshow, but as always will ultimately be voting with my wallet and only pick up the figures that seem worthy of a place in my collection.

(BTW, nice photos there, Rubio. But I noticed the figure looks more accurate with the third leg pushed up a bit.)
