When I was removing Sideshow's dirt I used an old sponge torn into irregular shapes and dabbed away ~ half the original dirt from the dome using 91% alcohol. The oil paint and turpenoid wash enhanced what was left behind. The lower white body is all brushes and oil paint washes, speckle. There's ~ 4 hours of painting broken over several sessions.

I'm thinking of tying him somewhere under my car when I get him and just leave him there for a couple of months to see how it turns out.

The grill has been proven to be more effective

Well joke all you want, but Kamandi's work is much more screen accurate and realistic, taking the figure to the next level.

Hmm, still waiting on my replacement dome to arrive. No ship email yet.

Great work Kamandi! That looks fantastic.

Does leaving the "on" switch activated but turning off the lights with the touch panel still run the batteries down? I just tried to turn the lights on after a few days and he wont light up.

Yeah, same thing happened to me; batteries dead after less than two weeks of very sporadic use. I think it's called phantom power where stuff draws current even when not switched on. R2 has two switches - maybe that's the issue.

OK folks, I think I'm happy with it now. I did a discreet blue test and it's not the way to go, so the blue panels are later. For now this is where the grunge level is going to be.

Another layer of wash and dirtied the feet a bit more, some bristle brush speckle, all of the silver bits have a bit of oil and grunge, the third leg recess area is darkened... trial and error. I painted the inside surfaces on the blue arms and added some oil to the recessed area where they fold in. I think I got close to where I wanted it to be, time to step away from the brushes.

Cool, thanks for the info. Guess I'll be picking up some more batteries then. lol

I had to rethink my clean droids after seeing what Kamandi did with his droid. So I did both R2 and C3PO. Star Wars droids should be dirty.
