Seriously, I have three of these on order and have had them on order for NINE MONTHS. Geezuz, my ex-wife and I conceived and had actual human children in the amount of time it took to wait for this figure! If even one of mine comes with a shoddy production paint app or other defects, I am going to napalm Sideshow. Everyone consider thyselves warned. :cuss

Purple haze, baby...

:lol Too late to do anything now, they're on the slow boat from China. But on the bright side, most of the pics shown so far don't show much in the way of paint apps problems...

And what will you do if they all arive with perfect paint?

Stores? When was the last time anyone saw a SSC product in a store?

I'm so glad the backlash has begun. I warned SSC when they took on the Indy license that these fans were even more anal than Star Wars fans.

Keep in mind that not many people have this in hand yet - let's reserve judgement until we see it for ourselves, m'kay?

Would it really matter? It's almost like people don't appreciate the effort that goes into these things to begin with. With all this whining over all the minor petty crap of the 12" you'd think they dropped the cash on a Cinemaquette.

So Irish, are you going to be creating a step-by-step weathering tutorial for those of us who have no experience?

SS has released lots of figures with fantastic paint aps.
I have to agree. There definitely have been more pluses than minuses. I think it just gets overlooked because some of their stinkers have been REALLY bad.

The Indy looks okay, so far. I'm just concerned about the report of there being varied and inconsistent quality in the paint apps among figures that have come from the factory at the same time. There is absolutely no excuse for that.

If (read: IF) Sideshow has let these out without 100% dedication to quality at every step of the way it's a huge slap in the face, especially after the wait.

Yes. I'll be creating a step-by-step tutorial (with photos) that shows both how to weather your figures in general and more specifically how to weather ROTLA Indy himself. And I'll share it with everyone. Well, except for thenammagazine... because he doesn't deserve it. :monkey3

I'm still psyched for this figure... but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't some trepidation and crossed-fingers at this point.

In any case, I can already tell it's better than the $150 turd dropped by Medicom.

Well, I for one think with higher prices should follow higher quality as well. But still I am :drool over this figure, just like 95% of their figures they always look better in hand than they do online. We'll be all right.

I agree.

But have to say I also have had to buy several figures again because they had crossed eyes - also frustrating to see what the possibilities are shown to us by Hot Toys (and yes I am aware they are more expensive, but would have the extra gladly) - The Sideshow paint quality feels outdated.

Just a little afraid after reading the post where the advice was given to compare to find the better paintjob.

There's many things off about this Indy. Too much eyeliner, doll dots in the eyes, Beard painted to look trimmed instead of stubble, Prometheus having lose joints and not having good range of movement out of the arms, small costume inaccuracies, and one I've noticed but haven't seen mentioned too much, the head cast slightly too large.
But even with all this, I still think it looks like the best 1:6 Indy out there. The head sculpt, jacket, hat, costume and accessories, although seen as too inaccurate by some, are more then acceptable for me. A costly repainted head and an easy but costly body swap to a True Type would fix most of these issues. Still, I just hope I get one with good paint apps and stiff joints but that doesn't seem likely.

Cool - looking forward to it! I've got to say that I'm worried by some of the things I've seen and heard about it so far, hopefully the joints aren't too bad and that the paint jobs aren't that inconsistent. Doesn't seem like there's much that can be done about the stubble only along the jawline though.

This is the attitude that stuns me. They have the chance to do it the right way and for some reason it wasn't done. It just wasn't done. How is that petty crap? You think that because it didn't cost $1200 that we shouldn't voice our opinion on what we've been shown so far? If you want to be happy with whatever you buy then so be it, but please don't demean the rest of us who have a different opinion than yours. :gun It's shallow.
NONE of the companies that put out a Raiders Indy figure/doll have done it right. None. How is it that they can all screw up? Maybe it is LFL? I just don't get it.

Agent5, no worries. There are some people on here who think Sideshow can do no wrong and jump on anyone with criticisms. Conversely, there are others who rip Sideshow to shreds on anything and everything. You'll soon figure out who all of these people are on your own. You won't even need them pointed out for you. :lol

i love all that every one is saying but ... with all the bad stuff every one is saying .. NOT one person here has the figure in had YET .... come on guys

What stuns me is the fact that you're critiquing the hell out of something you don't even have in your hands yet. You're basing everything off of someone else's photos and hearsay. I understand being inquisitive over photos posted online, hell, a few even have me stumped, but nitpicking it to death when you haven't even held the finished product is appalling. This is one of the problems with starting a photo thread before you physically have the figure in your grimy little mitts to critique. I saw this happen in the HotToys TDK thread which was ultimately locked because it was an embarrassment for anyone, with any self respect, to read. That is what's shallow and pretty petty man.
