Out of all the licensed Indy's so far it is by far the best. No question to me. I'm just at a loss on why they did some things they did. I find it disappointing they label it a "Raiders" figure instead of just "Indiana Jones". For me, it's very misleading.

I, personally, could give a stuff if his jacket has the wrong straps, or his gunbelt is a shade lighter than the movie. Its INDY, you can see it's INDY and that's all I care about.

I feel the same way. I am very glad that I don't notice every little wrong detail on every figure... it sure would make things a lot less fun. I still can't really tell the difference between Vaders and I am happy about it.

Right on. I'm 33 years old and I've never heard the word stormflap before. And that does not make me a "casual" ROTLA fan.
It's cool if you Stormflappers want to count zipper teeth, just don't rain on our slightly less OCD parade.:D

I do want to point out that I love agent5's avatar, though.

A lot? Name some you think are fantastic.

Justin, I don't see how you enjoy anything by critiquing the hell out of them. I bet your woman won't take her clothes off with the lights on.

Just off the top of my head

Bride of Frankenstein Monster
Son of Frankenstein Monster
Ardeth Bey
Security Guard Zombie
Dream Warrior Freddy
F13 7 Jason
F13 X Jason
JvF Jason
JvF Freddy
Frodo
Sam
Gandalf
Palpatine
Bib Fortuna
Clone Obi Wan
ANH Ben
Leia Boushh
ANH Luke

Most of their previous paint is acceptable with a Faramire scattered here and there.

Im gonna reserve my judgement on this figure until I see it in hand.
I hope it arrives at my local retailer soon, will check it out when Im collecting General Kenobi & Lara Croft.

Things were still holding up pretty well about this time yesterday. :lol

But there seems to be a pattern with these figs. It comes in three stages

1) Initial Joy with first pics

2) Nitpicking to death with more pics

3) Joy when figure arrives

My feelings haven't changed at all, even with all the negativity coming from those who haven't even seen it in hand...

The value of this piece is unprecedented for a Complete 12" Indy Figure.

Yes, you may have to tweak the eyes (remove white dot or a repaint tweak) but you will never find a better value with everything that is included with this IMO...

2 heads of the Best Indy Sculpt to date. 2 Whips, 8 hands, full outfit, all the goodies and SSC even corrected the web belt color.

So although it is a level above a Kit (basic complete fig) you are getting all this for only 90...

A HT Indy would cost 160 easy with all this. Some may want to swap bodies, but again, you Guys will find no better value than this anywhere.

I am quick on the trigger to criticize SSC for their inconsistencies but I have to say I am more than pleased to call this my 1st ROTLA Indy figure... :D

wow! Dave was right, Sideshow had no idea what an Indy fan's wrath would be like. ;)

"It's unlike anything you've ever gone after before, Sideshow......it's NOT to be taken lightly."

Hey, just because you're responsible for the best Harrison Ford sculpts ever don't think you're off the hook. That's CLEARLY Last Crusade stubble you sculpted. Unforgiveable.

Same here. I notice stuff but I don't sit and study it all to the point it takes the fun away. IMO thats the biggest issues with a lot of collectors that have come through here. I understand wanting the best they can get for their money but some expect virtual perfection and honestly its probably never gonna happen. So just enjoy what you get and let the rest fall as it may.

I must be the only one with a crappy paint apps on my Old Ben figure...

Mine is pale, super-glossy and the eyes are bloodshot... :horror

I love my Old Ben figure, but the paint isn't that great, as you say he looks waxey and shiney, not skin-like at all.

Hahaha! very good, very good! and WHAT is that?! Crystal Skull wrinkles under the eyes?! wtf was I on that day?! lol!

I do think this figure is going to be very satisfying to most. As a fan, I seriously cannot wait to get this in hand! I'll be tweaking and modifying him constantly, I'd wager, but for the fun of it...

I suppose it's like anyone who dives into collecting authentic bits of Indy gear...It's all quite expensive, and everyone's idea of the ideal look is a little different...so everyone approaches customizing it in a different way to meet their standard.

or I'm wrong, lol!

Of course you're never going to achieve perfection on such a scaled down figure. Some things just have to be given up for the sake of scale. Something as simple as snaps on a jacket though, should be so simple when all you have to do is pop on the dvd's and it's right there in front of you and can see if it had them or not. I find it hard to believe anyone here is making excuses for that. Wait, no I don't. :naughty

And for the record, I do not at all slight those who are completely happy with their purchases. If you don't care about the details I find nothing at all wrong with that. I'm just not that way, especially being the Raiders fan I am and was looking so forward this figure for so long.

what you have to remember is that SSC Hot Toys, like to recycle their clothes, weapons etc, so if down the line they can re- use a jacket or pair of shoes they will. Maybe the reason for the 'errors' is so they can cut costs on the Temple of Doom, Last Crusade and Crystal Skull Indys if they are made?
That's just what I think.

What stuns me is the fact that you're critiquing the hell out of something you don't even have in your hands yet. You're basing everything off of someone else's photos and hearsay. I understand being inquisitive over photos posted online, hell, a few even have me stumped, but nitpicking it to death when you haven't even held the finished product is appalling. This is one of the problems with starting a photo thread before you physically have the figure in your grimy little mitts to critique. I saw this happen in the HotToys TDK thread which was ultimately locked because it was an embarrassment for anyone, with any self respect, to read. That is what's shallow and pretty petty man.

What YOU don't understand is Agent5 is critiquing the details of the costume (which I know for a fact he is an expert on) and not the doll itself. He's not talking about loose joint's and bad paint. He is talking about inaccurate costume details. This was meant to be a Raiders Indy, not some amalgam Indy (featuring details of all Indy's costumes). Agent5 and I (and Shawn as well) are members of Indygear.com. We take this stuff seriously. We know the difference between a Raiders jacket and a Last Crusade jacket. We don't need to have the figure in-hand to realize the costume isn't accurate. It may seem crazy to some, but surely 1:6 action figure nuts can relate? It's no more petty than critiquing loose joints or a doll dot.

Sideshow took almost a year to deliver this figure and they screwed up some important (to Agent5 and myself, maybe others) details. It's not the Raiders of the Lost Ark Indy we expected. It's still a great figure and I'm excited to receive it but with the reference materials at Sideshow's disposal, there's no reason it couldn't have been perfect. Just my 2 cents.

It's healthy to have a discussion about how we feel about these figures, but it's silly when we start to personally attack people for their opinion, so lets not start that
Just try and agree that although it's not to everyone's satisfaction, it is the best Indy figure at the moment.

okay, now everyone.......... :grouphug

Understandable I suppose that you take the outfit seriously. Maybe a bit too much but I digress. Just realize that some of us aren't anal about everything and for what its worth looks great and looks like Raiders Indy to me. I'm not gonna fret over some small details and ruin the fun. If you want to thats fine but I think some need to loosen up just a tad.

TOO seriously? Maybe. It's my hobby after-all. My other hobby is 1:6 figure collecting. Obviously, I'm excited about the melding of my two favorite hobbies. That's why I was critical. However, I'm not going to be the one to ruin the fun. I said in my earlier post I'm very excited to get the figure. It's still the BEST 1:6 Indy EVER! I'll pop the snaps off the jacket. No worries and no hard feelings.

Even though I don't really care about the snaps and other minor (IMO) inaccuracies I'd still rather read an articulate complaint about that than another "Too bad Hot Toys didn't make this.":sleep
Now I can tell my fiancee the word of the day is "stormflap.":D
