I just canceled it - because the prices are too high to get it home to Denmark (with freight, VAT and tax), and it seems there are some problems with this piece or there are a good chance of it (as ozzfan84 describes).
That will I not want to try, especially not when it costs $800! Not worth it... for me...

Hey, it could be a fluke that I had all those problems. Besides my issues, Vaako seems to be the only other person who had to go through multiples to get something acceptable. There's no guarantee you'll have the (really bad) luck I've had with this piece.

Hey Ozzfan, You can add me to the list of people with multiple returns. My first Maquette came with about four blemishes. I returned it and got another one which was even worse. The second one was "inspected by Sideshow" before shipping. LOL When I spend close to $800 on something, I expect a little better quality control. If possible, I would keep returning your Alien maquette until you get one that you're happy with. Here's some photos of the blemishes on my first one.
Good luck.
Lead Cenobite.

Now I'm feeling that I'm not picky enough, and that I need to go over mine with a fine tooth comb again. I checked him over really well when he got here and he seemed fine.

Now I just gave him a quick once over and I love this piece. So awesome. I think if I looked hard enough, and dug around, I could find something. So basically I feel really lucky that I got such a relatively good specimen. Believe me though, I know all about disappointment with Sideshow. Ahem, the Power Loader Diorama was such a letdown for me, terribly constructed and crazy eyes too? No thanks.

But this warrior is really great, and I'm so glad I could work him into my collection. Looking forward to what Sideshow comes up with for the Giger Alien Maquette.

:D

My replacement showed up, in much better condition than the first cos it was so chipped it was a write off for me, but on the new one the two teeth in the top right hand corner of the external mouth have 1mm chips missing off the end. There is also a nick on a knee which is no big deal. The quality control on this is statue is bad from the looks of things...Probably not too tough a fix to repair the teeth - but I shouldn't have to.
Maybe if it was in the same scale as the Alien 3 maquette it wouldn't have been so fragile :monkey3

Hey Vaako, If I knew how bad the second one was going to be, I definitely would have kept the first one. What I find interesting is the difference in color between the two. I believe the first one was numbered in the 300 or 400 hundreds and is definitely more of a blue color than the second one which was numbered under 100 and is more of a dark green. We'll try again.

hope it works out for you and you'll get a decent piece because that's what sideshow owes you

That's terrible guys, it's always my greatest fear when ordering something this expensive & delicate - damage or defects that require a return... I've been really lucky so far *knock on wood*.

I did a pretty thorough check when I got mine & could only find a small silver paint fleck on the underside of the tongue, that's the only thing I could pick it on, seriously. I just had another look with a torch & for want or a better word it seems "perfect". For the price it should be.

I really feel for you guys, hope it gets sorted.

A little scratch or chip on a base, that has a worn or industrial feel to it anyway.

You just won the lottery right???

I'm not even sure what you're saying there.

Please explain to me how my reasons for aggravation were too picky for an $800 statue:

-A broken tooth.

-A toe that was broken off before being painted, and then just painted right over the broken toe.

-A toe that appeared to be "melted" and disfigured.

-An area on the tail where the painted detail was just broken off of the statue before being packed into the Sideshow box and slapped with a QC sticker.

Furthermore, I didn't have a base problem. But if I did, I'd still be upset. The base on this piece is larger than the figure itself and is one of the primary factors of making it a nice display.

I don't find that being picky at all.
I'd want to return it too.

Just finished unpacking my Warrior and very relived to report no scratches, chips or deformed or missing body parts. Very happy since he is so handsome. Will check again the the daylight but I feel I managed to get a real winner. N# 28/750 reporting in.

Congrats man, nice low number too. Could that be the difference in QC maybe?

Some pics would be nice if you can - been a bit dry lately.
