Have to agree $100 don't seem to be a reasonable price and I wouldn't think the guy with the chair will be going at this price.

Wasn't interested anyway but I gree 100 bucks or probably £80 in the uk is ridiculous
Wouldn't pay half that to be honest

I agree, I thought the Emperor was too pricey, although the Ex made it more worthwile.

Not a good sign if these are going to cost $99. I'm passing on these anyway as I'm not interested but they are asking too much.:dunno

The days of 50 dollar figures are long gone. People need to stop living in a pipedream. The price of oil/gas/perto has almost tripled in the past 10 years, Chinese workers no longer work for 10 cents an hour, their salaries have gone up 200% in the same time frame. Shipping costs over the ocean have shot through the roof....ground shipping costs have also soared. Everyone involved at Sideshow I'm sure have also seen their salaries raised in the past 10 years. EVERYTHING is more expensive now. The sooner people get it around their heads that Sideshow can't charge 30 bucks for a figure and make money the happier they will be.

If that's the case they need to up their quality to make it sit better with folk. It's the same excuse every time someone questions Sideshow's pricing.

The figure is overpriced. Be it $25 or $50 as you say. End of story. It's $10 more than a trooper $20 less than the Gammorrean Guard that came out, the latter a completely new body with more complex clothing and more accessories that so far has been reused once.

Very true but also, how much is the license fee? I'm sure there's something in their deal that calls for a 10 -20% increase per year for the license. I'm sure the price increase on SS Figs is not all SS.

I may have missed this in the thread but is his instrument the proper size or did the dreaded holiday special band get bigger instruments.

EDIT: Checked it against the ANH pictures and it's a different size in the special. All of them are.

I'm not sure that the wrist setup is final. I painted sculpted Bith forearms for these which aren't even on the prototypes, so I'm guessing this isn't the final wrist joint.

Good to know the final product might look a bit better then. The odd ratchet joint might not look so bad even if it were at least coming out of a sculpted forearm. But as it is the transition from smooth plastic to ugly joint is just not working.

But even with that this is just not a $100 figure unless there are some accessories/options that Sideshow hasn't revealed yet.

Know what you mean, but...

Gamorrean - totally new body, fully sculpted arms, 4 sculpted hands, fully sculpted legs/feet, elaborate pleather outfit including fur skirt, "loin cloth" underskirt, weathered undershirt, leather belts, multiple armor pieces, two piece head/helmet + 2 weapons

= $120

Modal - standard body with sculpted head, sculpted hands. Simple pants, shirt, boots. Instrument

= $100

Not $30, not $50, but should have been $75-80 (Lando - comparable, maybe slightly more elaborate, was $80)

EDIT - Bloodgear - beat me to it and more succinctly put!

True Gammy was a bit more expensive and had a new sculpt but SS must have had a reason for picking this price. It makes no business sense to charge yourself out of the market.

And don't forget that Gammy isn't articulated as most of the 1/6 figures...that means he's cheaper to R&d as well as produce. When the 1/6 Yoda is 75 bucks I think it's a bit far fetched to expect this guy to be the same price or even less.

It isn't really far fetched at all. Yoda was an ENTIRELY new body that was extremely articulated and will only have a few uses. The Modal Nodes aren't.

The costume's also slightly inaccurate. It's missing the buttons on Dan's tunic/shirt.

I'm usually not one to nitpick these small details but for the price it should at least have two tiny buttons... :D

Wow, $100 for a very basic figure. The boots look like the same one that came with the RFT, the pants also look very familiar. If he comes with extra hands I might consider get one for a kitbash.

I also noticed it doesn't have the neck piece like the Hasbro version. That limits kitbashes to high collared tunics/shirts.

Have to agree about the buttons... its a small thing, but for the price they are asking an accurate outfit is necessary.

Side by side the figure does look pretty good... but the outfit on the real deal does seem to fit a lot better. Might look pretty good with some futzing, but that pricetag is just too hard to get my head around.

I was going to mention Yoda. Like bloodgear said, it's a whole new body with unique clothing items and even the log accessory for $70 (for the reg). I can't believe the Bith is worth $30 more in raw materials alone.

Maybe he really will come with all the instruments. I gotta believe Sideshow has something up its sleeve to justify the price.
