Costuming on this figure looks good, better than the 1:1 props used in the movies. Sometimes I wonder if people commenting have ever seen the movies.

What looks off are the legs - they simply look too short in proportion to the upper body. But I'm not comparing against the movie for this opinion, just straight-up anatomical proportions. Maybe Prowse had a proportionally longer upper body and this matches well to the on-screen Vader - will have to check.

The chest electronics are riding much higher on this Vader than on my 1977/78 Kenner and both 90's Hasbro 12" series. :)

I could be wrong.. but those last three observations of Wor-Gor's were tongue in cheek. :lol

Actually, I'm quite enjoying reading the opinions in here - it's a lot more civil than I was expecting, but still some scratching & hissing happening. :lol

I've said what I think about the pics, but I'm still interested in seeing the final product in hand. Some comps with the older figure will be interesting as well. :)

We're talking about ESB Vader here...to display with my HT Luke!
If the dome is not millimeter perfect then i must repeatably post that i think Hot Toys should do it because surely if i post enough times they'll listen!

Lets be honest here, while good, this representation is FAR from a homerun.

The three issues for me: helmet/dome & the super small chest box & bagginess of the suit

I know, GOD, It sucks that you'll have to put a placard in front of the figure so that people viewing your collection will know who it is!

The funny thing is SS simply used the Vader helmet sculpt from Portumac on their 1:1 bust, and not even asked him for that LOL... So they recast his work

BTW the Imperial logo from the base looks a bit odd, it's more like Republic logo than Imperial logo

Funny enough, you wouldn't be able to pose his leg this way or bend his leg at all if his pants wern't as baggy as they are. You would have him with straight legs forever.
IMO it's not bad, it's not TOO baggy but it's enough where they gave us some articulation.

I'm sure people would have complained about it had we not been given the option to pose his leg.
Not to mention all you people will click that "Place Order" button no matter what! :lol Well the vast majority of you at least.

Oh I agree (if you indeed are serious) - & I'll be waiting for HT as well. :duff

(..& btw - I'm quite aware it may be a while everyone, ok? :wave :lol)

I take it you've never been in any of the Nolan Batman threads. They all pose their Batman just standing there with his fists down. :lol

Actually, ironically, I have the DX12 myself :lol

And the main grip I have with that figure is the lack of articulation on the knees BECAUSE of the tight outfit so really, I'm happy they're giving this guy some breathing room instead of limiting us for the sake of giving him some speedos for the hardcore fanboys.

This is by far the perfect outfit but as far the baggy pants goes, people should at least understand why they're doing it instead of just bashing it for what it is. Like Evilface said, go to the DX12 forums and look at the hoard of pictures people have posted and it's not "fun". None of the pictures really scream a nice pose because every single one of them has him with straight legs.

Yeah, I scratched my head at that, too. I can see saying it's the best Vader that will be available for quite some time but it certainly doesn't blow away the source material.

I'm being honest here. Have you guys seen the movies in HD on a very good screen? Have you seen any props live?

Take a good look at multiple scenes in the movies and you'll see a lot of inconsistency, poorly positioned items on costumes and pretty much everything everyone is complaining about here in this and other threads. The movie costumes in general are somewhat rough.

Movie accuracy is one thing, but it's an ideal, it's not the same thing as prop accuracy. Both are also insanely difficult to achieve when no one, not even the people who made the movies, knows exactly. And especially difficult when licensors have changed their specs and requirements, redefining the ideal over the years.

Most people would complain even if they were looking at photos of actual props used in the movies. I constantly see people nitpicking about the smallest of details, sometimes imagined and then completely ignoring some egregious errors. Take for example Hot Toys Bruce Wayne sculpt. The ears on that thing are an absolute anatomical abomination, but I haven't noticed anyone complain about them except me.

Anyway, with so many months until the expected ship date, there's plenty of opportunity for this figure to get much worse. ;) And if you're one of the people waiting for Hot Toys to release a Vader, I hope you're under 20 now, because you may very well be waiting a few decades for that to happen, if ever. Sideshow controls Star Wars premium figure licensing at this moment in time. You'll be lucky to see any HT SW in the next 12 months at all.
