20% of cost and shipping. Then add in the 10 quid handling fee

$279.99 is around £173 + vat £34.60 + £10 handling fee = £217.60 or $350.48 total

If it can make you feel better, sometimes in Italy they don't even bother doing a currency conversion, so I ended up paying 22% VAT as Dollar and Euro were 1:1.

That's cause they do in fact suck. SS needs to release some new improved pics (if they did actually improve on a figure) to re-energize folks for the upcoming release. I know the reason i have not po'd yet is cause of the pics. Need to see final or improved pics before i'll drop a NRD on a SS figure!

Good point. Its high time now. Holding my order by the thread and its a shame cause this is such an iconic figure. Hopefully they would come out swinging punches and do a great job at the pics...

$25-30 bucks for shipping to the UK is cheap. It's the handling fee and VAT charges that hurts. You cant get away from that unless you can get someone to mark the item down. (fake value)

Also think it is in fact fedex sideshow use for UK shipping.

But that is VAT and customs duty then?

A UK collector told me (not on this board) that Sideshow shipping to the UK was a flat fee of around 25USD even for the heavy big stuff and Dewback and the likes. Shipping a Dewback to Sweden for example is 100USD and that is kind of cheap still.

the big problem is that the vat is charged on the items and shipping and fedex screw you for a tenner just to chare you the extra and sideshow dont do a prepaid method

i only buy from ssc direct now if its something i really need the exclusive for
i use collectible kitbash and used to use fpi

I used Toys2 for my 1/6 figures but over time, their shipping has jumped up to crazy figures too

I've never bought direct from SS. I've only ever bought my Hot Toys figures from the Hong Kong sellers on ebay and their shipping is always cheap with no customs charges.

I've bought twice direct from the US via other sources, one was OK and with the other one I ended up paying a £80 custom charge.
