Vader didn't TOWER over anyone except R2, Ugnauts and Jawas in any of the movies (maybe, on a whim, I'll give you Leia).

I don't know how you define towering over someone, but a full head qualifies to me.

Can any post a pic of this with a SS stormy?

I only want to know if it's possible to use a HT knock off body for vader and just add some height to his legs. Im sure i will have to shorten suit and cape but what do you guys think is it possible to do a costume swap?

No in-hand experience, but from the images, I say VERU DOUBTFUL without some additional work hacking up that body plus some padding. The figure is well proportioned on its own, so you'd have to do more than simply extending the legs in the TT knock-off.

It sounds like trying to body swap this one would be a real pain in the butt anyhow. I think keeping him on the stock body would be the best option. That's what I'm going to do anyhow.

That's almost the poorest example image you can find to show Vader's height. The troopers are all 1.5 to 8+ feet behind Vader. Take a look at the scene a few minutes later when they're all in the hallways together on the same plane. Or when commanders are standing next to him and only half a helmet shorter than he is. Or when he's talking to Leia with troopers next to him. Come on, at least TRY.

A poorer image would be one where Vader is sitting down in his meditation chamber if you were trying to argue he was short. ;) He's tall, but he's not a giant like the figure. Mayhew, who played Chewy, was over 7' tall (7'2" and not wearing flat shoes) - now that's GIANT.

FYI, I did put the body suit on a KP02 out of curiosity. It looked bad cause the suit was so baggy on it and the sleeves just barely fit around the forearms. It looked like he was wearing spandex on the arms and a trash bag everywhere else.

A clear shot from the film is a clear shot from the film.

That's not a clear shot. You might as well show the shot where Vader is standing on the bridge in the distant background and say he's knee-high to the guards standing in the foreground. Wow, this is like perspective school from the middle ages. Get a grip, some of us have had the films in 1080p for years and can grab screens at will any time (twice on Sunday if w'ere not out with the family). I've seen the movies more times than I can even remember, and scanned through the first two at least 3 times this week alone. That's a poor example - it doesn't show anything. Period.

See, most everyone else knows how to divide 202 (or 205 if you'd prefer) cm by 6 to find out the height the figure should be according to Vader's "official" height. The point however is that Sideshow has been making figures at a specific scale and it's kind of a PITA, when they release a new one that doesn't fit.

It's already established this figure is tall, what I really want to figure out is how to remedy the situation for posing next to other SSC and DX07.

It seems this is the same dance with every release from SSC and Hot Toys. It goes like this: Before it's released, "this thing is awful, totally wrong, this and that is off" and then when it's released "oh my gawd, this thing is amazing, it's perfect" from a lot of people and from some still the "it's crap". I'm of the middle ground however. It's good, but there are a few issues. We can live with them. But those that can be fixed or addressed, might as well be.

Can we all just agree to each their own on Vader. Vader, like no other figure ever, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Just go to the ANH thread to see YEARS of height debate with tons of photos. This constant talk of height and who is right and wrong is mind numbing dull and pointless.

Or just start a Vader Height Discussion thread.

Remember when this guy was first previewed and people were talking about stupid crap like the lights on his chest? Or the frumpy costume? Talk about not seeing the forest through the trees. Now most people don't care that he's way too tall.

A more appropriate idiom would be that the height issue is 'the elephant in the room' - ie the thing that should be apparent to all present but that is apparently not remarked upon. Not being able to see the forest for the trees - and that's for trees, as opposed to through the trees - is actually describing the opposite of what you observe in this particular context. By letting the height issue pass largely without comment - because let's face it once it has been pointed out a dozen times, and in addition to the extensive commentary on the matter that ran ad infinitum through the ANH thread, who in their right mind could be bothered pursuing it further - those who comment on other details relating to the figure are actually seeing the forest, ie the overall impression, or sum of the parts, if you will, and not focusing on the metaphorical tree about which you speak.

Sorry, I haven't been following all the posts on this thread, but in regards to the mask on the reveal head, it doesn't touch the face at all if you slide the mask forward onto the head as I did in the video. If you were to slide it down over the head, then you'll surely end up scratching the head. There appears to be grooves in the proper areas to allow for the mask to slide onto the reveal head. If done carefully and with two hands instead of one the way I did in my vid, the mask should stop right before the ears, so the ears shouldn't get scratched. If anything, the mask just barely touched the lower ear lobe.

Thank you for answering my question. I may be a little braver to try it myself. :)

It can be done Marc, I did it with no damage to the sculpt. You can get the mask over the face easily enough, you just gotta be careful while you do it.

Good point. I'm not trying to get hung up on the height. Overall the figure is great and I've said it a dozen times already. Don't get hung up on one detail when there are so many to note. ;) I can really give most everything else a pass. But when someone comes out an expressly says the height is fine, or perfect or off by only 1/4", that's a little bothersome. I'm trying very hard not to focus on one single thing - I can't recall a single release from SSC or Hot Toys for that matter that only had one element "off." The Vader release is (of course) no different.

King has done a remarkable job in fixing, at least in his photos, what really stands out as offensive about the helmet and neck in the stock configuration and Sideshow's own photos. I'd like to take it just one small step further and get this guy looking as good as possible next to the other figures, so he looks at least somewhat close to how he appears in the movies. Anyone displaying him on his own will likely not have the need to go this route, even though I think the helmet fix is a good idea to get him looking "proper".

Not even a bit of tac to hold it in place?

Its not so much that it wont stay in place, it just sits "wrong", cause of the shape and size of the top of the mask.

I suppose you'll have to see it for yourself, perhaps you can find a way to pull it off.
