To me its more a case of apples vs oranges, my SSC Vader will always be dueling or in a situation with rebels/Jedi, he looks huge and menacing as a proper villain should. I'm hoping for HT to have some fairly accurate onscreen size between Vader and the troopers for more of a museum pose together. One display really doesn't affect the other for me.

Your reasonableness puts your membership on this forum into question.

What improvements could be made by HT? The SS version is a really nice figure. Maybe a little shorter and a more photo-realistic likeness of shaw?

The helmet sculpt is slightly off and the dome is undersized (and the "Hasbro dome fix" doesn't work with the SSC ROTJ release, only the ANH version.)

It's a gorgeous quality Vader figure in-hand, and displays well overall, but the helmet's just not 100% "screen accurate." That's important to some, not important to others, and it's also more than possible that HT's version will be somewhat inaccurate also. It's a tough sculpt to get right.

You've mentioned about 1% of this figure's issues. :lol

It'll be made from crystalized unicorn tears sprayed with dark matter and it'll be glorious.

:lol

Let us pray.

Our Hot Toys, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily 1/6 figure; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive Sideshow who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil Sideshow. Amen

You forgot Medi-evil. :lol

At least the first one had a better quality bodysuit, & no useless junk included with it.

Yeah they change out a near-perfect bodysuit but leave him at 1/4 scale height.:dunno

And the extras I guess were their attempt to explain the doubling in price over the ANH release, but yeah... sort of useless for an average display with Vader next to other figs.

I almost bought it a few times, as it looks good in some pics (and "feels" great in-hand,) but that mask/dome just looked too off for me. I'm jealous of people who love it - must be great to tick that box. I have to wait and hope for HT to step up (and maybe get it a bit wrong too...)

If HT' version ends up being a disappointment, I won't buy that either. :huh :lol

I'm fairly confident that they'll do him justice though, they just GOTTA!!! :gah:

Well for one thing a HT Vader has to be appropriately scaled or there is definite risk he will be taller than their Chewie which we all know is too small, but I digress.. Other than that, the face and dome. I still think you have to be blind and not have access to a single in-movie Vader picture to be able to fail on the level that SSC did, especially since they had a second attempt at it. So that should logically be good also. And with those two things they will already be about 75% there.

What does that say about people who thought the SSC Vader was the correct scale even when staring directly at a dozen or more movie stills? ;)
