I don't see it as irresponsible. I could (and do with some figures) just as easily save money and pay full price at release. To me it just comes down to the convenience of knowing I have it partially paid for. I don't see what's wrong with it and why you're so critical of people who use it. No one is forcing you to use it but its a good system for some of us.

People who pay in full on the spot should get priority.

Considering that SS don't ship until you have paid in full I don't see how this makes sense or would benefit anyone.

I don't use flex much now, but as an international customer it has been handy in the past when the dollar was up and down a lot. It also helped so I wasn't lumped with the cost of the item and high shipping costs all in one hit.

There are worse things in the world then flex paying, keep doing it if it makes you happy. No hard feelings. I am on my third knob creek on the rocks and I need out of this discussion before I wind up ranting about credit cards, apple products, and Starbucks.

People pay for their figures how they want to pay for their figures. The end.

As long as we are happy when they arrive and feel they were worth the money we have spent! :peace

If it were up to me, SSC and HT would not be allowed to even po an item until we can see the FINAL, in HAND version. This whole bait/switch approach (esp) for SSC, has gotten old.

Or if the difference between prototype and production is beyond acceptable tolerance, then Sideshow ought to freely agree to non-penalty refunds.

Then it comes down to HT and SS willingness to make sure their factories produce to a high enough quality in order to avoid a negative impact later on.

Nothing has to be pre-ordered any more if people are so inclined. Miss out on some exclusives but if seeing the final product in hand mattered to much that much i wouldn't be swayed one way or the other by an extra blaster or something.

Lot of people dropping out of this one? I jumped on the EX waitlist for the bike and trooper on the 30th on a whim and it converted on the 31st XD

There's not really a downside to it either though. Its not like Sideshow is going to screw their customers over and not provide the item being paid for. Yes a person can save money for a figure on their own but its a convenient system and obviously people must use it or it wouldn't be offered.

Well the downside is the late delivery OR the early pay-off if things get delayed after last payment OR if for some unforeseen reason you need to cancel or the item doesn't come out as promised you lose $25.

The late delivery is the main thing I disagree with. People who have mostly paid off their item should get first dibs in my opinion. I get why they charge those who pay in full and ship those orders first but it's kind of sketchy if you ask me. As for the penalties for canceling I guess that hasn't happened to me yet, but at least they clearly outline that when you agree to put an item on flex pay.

This is exactly it. Why would I wait a year to pay in full when the dollar is lower than it was at the original preorder date. Sometimes I Flexpay and sometimes I don't, but when I haven't, I've ended up having to pay more because the dollar had dropped during that time.

The only way I could see using flexpay is as a 'holding strategy" after release. You could flexpay for a figure already released and pay over three months basically assuring you'll get one by the end of 3 months. But paying in advance still makes no sense to me.

As for the dollar value changing, that's a roll of the dice at any time.

My dollar has been on the decline for 2 years, so it's safe to say it isn't going to suddenly jump up a considerable amount within such a short period.

That sucks, but in 3 months time do you really lose that much money?

Anyway, for those who like it or need it, I'm happy it can keep you in the hobby.

I really hope this Scout is the next level of trooper figure from Sideshow. I really don't want it as a place holder for the HT version. Would like to keep a few things on my Star Wars shelf from Sideshow besides R2.

Payment plans are meant for real estate, automobiles, and emergent necessities. Sideshow offers flex pay because if you were to walk into Citibank and ask for a $500 hot toys loan they would laugh your @** out the door.

I prefer having the payments split-up as it makes it easier for me to rationalize the costs of the hobby when the paynents are broken-up vs a big, lump sum outlay all at once (especially when releases get bunched-up -- this two-week period for example I've had BD Robo and Iron Whiplash arrive, with the Stormtrooper two-pack due to ship August 5th -- that's $1100.00 US + ~20% mark-up for currency conversion). The cost to me is the same, either way, and either way I have the money and can 'afford' it (relatively) and have more than enough access to credit, so I'm certainly not reliant on a loan from the bank for my Iron Whiplash. :lol I just prefer the feeling of knowing I'm slowly paying something down over time. No idea why anyone who prefers single pay considers it superior in any way. If that's your preference fine but it's all a wash in the end. *waits for someone to mention the 'interest' I'm 'losing' by paying Sideshow ahead of time*

Just used $155 in rewards to order the Biker Scout. Can't wait. Would have preordered the bundle with bike but checkout wouldn't let me use rewards for the bundle. So will pick up the bike separately a little later.

My first SW figure since R2. :yess:

This is my first figure since R2 also. Getting Scout and bike. Really looking forward to this. Not long now.
