Why the need to rationalize? I am fully aware of how ridiculous it is to spend the kind of money I do on this hobby, I just don't care. Better the reality of it hit me in the face like a 2x4 everytime I order up my next figure.

Lol, sorry I'm not paying the way you'd prefer, TFH! I honestly never understand why these convos come up or why anyone cares how someone else pays but it's all good.

Personally, I prefer cash. I overnight ten pounds of quarters with strict instructions for them to be dumped out in Sideshow's front lobby.

Nothing personal. It came up because there were complaints made about the inherent drawbacks of paying with flex.

Payment plans are meant for real estate, automobiles, and emergent necessities. Sideshow offers flex pay because if you were to walk into Citibank and ask for a $500 hot toys loan they would laugh your @** out the door.

If you need loans to buy Figures, than you shouldn't be collecting, end of story.

If you've got 5 figures all coming the same month, then having already paid most of it already feels better than forking out that $1500 or more in one go. Some people choose to pay it in full rather than once it's released, so people just have different preferences.

If I intend to buy something that will be released after a long time I start saving the money for that thing in advance. I put the money separately and unless Armageddon comes I won't touch it. This way I already have the money saved for all my pre-orders by the moment they come. Never flex-paid anything. Right now I have the money for SSC Scout, TIE Pilot, HT Sandie & Spacetrooper, and soon for SSC AT-AT Driver too

I've just started using flex play. Partially because it is easier for me to know what I am paying out and partially because it does remove that temptation to treat myself to that figure I'm on the fence with. It works for me and I'm happy with it. I have in the past just paid out when it was due but with rising prices and real life to pay for I prefer this now. I wasn't trying to start an arguement with people.

I just want my trooper. Really looking forward to this one. I haven't got much Star Wars in order at the mo just this and Luke hot toys at present and chewie.

It's a little over the top. But I've been mainly a threea guy. Use to have a lot of SS gi joes. I switch gears though and sell them off to fund the new interest.

Me too. I pretty much rent most of my collection until something new comes along. :lol In fact I only own one single high end product that dates earlier than 2011 (Frodo PF.) Just put my Exclusive Allied Charge Cap PF up for sale due to all the new Star Wars product on the way.

I've been collecting high end for 9 years now and here's my entire collection:

First Avenger Cap PF
Frodo PF
Gentle Giant TWS Black Widow
Hot Toys Bespin Luke
Hot Toys Age of Ultron Cap
Sideshow Yoda 1/6
Sideshow R2 1/6

Due to constant buying and reselling it's never gotten out of hand or broken the bank. Though I do imagine that might change when all the new HT SW figures ship. :lol

I've cycled through a lot of stuff over the last three years; more so I can figure out what I really love and want to keep, but I can relate to that "rental" comment.

I'm interested in about a half dozen properties. Five of them being nostalgia driven, so I don't expect *too* many new interests to pop up in the future.

This upcoming Scout will test my minimalist resolve, though. [emoji50]
