Man what is SS thinking, 34.77 shipped UPS to oregon vs BBTS's 18.70 for FEdEx. Talk about robbery. Has anyone seen any good photos of the bike? I'm wondering if it's really worth the 300 dolalrs. I'd love to get two scouts and a bike, but damn 300 bucks is just huge for the bike.

SSC has always been greedy and ALWAYS been about the $. It's why i don't deal with them anymore.

They've started using bigger boxes than they did in the past. The Hoth figures were in bigger boxes, maybe due to the new stand and snow base design. R2 had a different shaped box. Don't know if that is screwing up their old $10 flat-rate ship. Didn't their Vader ship initially for $10? That looks like a calculated rate now too. It's pretty nuts that CA is $16 and NY is $18 for the Scout--not that i want it to be more over here.

But honestly with the coupon and not having to pay taxes, I can't really complain about the $8 difference, which is covered in rewards. Crap, I never got to use a coupon on this one.:gah:

Yeah, the boxes are bigger on the newer releases... that is true.

Just checked my old invoice for Vader deluxe. That box was huuuuge. And of course it did ship at $10. Wonder if they were eating some of the cost on that.

SS probably did eat some of the shipping cost for Vader. UPS and FedEx did raise their rates in January and although weight was the major factor in smaller boxes like the ones SS figures come in, now box dimensions plays a bigger role, it's called "Dimensional weight pricing (DIM)". This has always been true for larger boxes but they started to do it for all sizes now. I read it increased the price for shipping from 10%-30% more than what it would have cost in 2014 for the same box. :(

After delaying my payment they emailed me to ask if I wanted it of to ship early. So it's now 3 days later tha. It was originally.

Just did a live chat with SS regarding this. She assured me SS does not make a profit from shipping and that we as customers receive a discounted rate in fact. SS must get the absolute worst rate UPS offers if this is true.

She also suggested because I got the exclusive with the rifle it might cost more. I wasn't aware the rifle was 1:1 and made of steel.
It seems odd to me if that is indeed the case that the shipping rates vary so much. I realize it'll be more depending how far the package is traveling but for people who are relatively close together to see wild differences is odd. Also yeah if this rate is discounted I'd hate to see regular shipping prices.

20.16 to Kingman, AZ. So even more than Phoenix and Tucson yet closer to California and on a major interstate.

No effing way this can be true. I'm sure that they get a bulk rate and they are charging more than what it costs to ship a single item privately.

Well I get mine shipped fed ex and I ship it to a fed ex store. When I pick it up I will ask how much it costs to ship the package as is right back to SSC and I guess we will know if they make a profit off shipping or not

There is no way they ship at a loss with UPS. If they did they would find a new shipping company. They are padding their shipping charges to offset some losses, reward points, or discounts imo. I am sure they get some bulk flat rate discount with UPS.

do you call them to make them ship fedex? I have never seen a fedex option in shipping.

There used to be an option. Then I had to fax a bunch of stuff authorizing it to ship to the store for pu there as it's not my bumming address. Makes it easier. I don't have to be home and no problem then for signature required. They call me when it's in and can hold it up to a week. If it's no longer an option I would just call. I have a fed ex location close to home so it made the choice easy. I guess u can do the same thing with UPS but my location said there was like a $5 charge per shipment for the convenience. FedEx does not charge anything

Well just called SSC CS and was informed the increase is due to box size...what? Funny, Vader's box was hugh and wasn't $18.06 to ship! Also because I got the EX, flat shipping doesn't apply...what? Honestly not trying to sour grapes here, just seems kind of shady.

Guys, i get where you are all coming from regarding the shipping costs. But just spare a thought for us international customers that not only have to pay more in shipping, but also have the exchange rate to factor in on a continuously declining dollar.
But yeah, sideshow need to show a bit of consistency on how they charge for their customers! Or they will lose some!
