I seriously was on the fence about getting this when it was announced. After seeing the pics I have to say that I'm sold and will be ordering this guy. I think the sculpt is dead on, when we see it from other angles I think it will rock.

Glad people are critiquing it. Thats what these message boards are made for IMO.

I like the look of the figure thus far myself. Can't wait to get better look at the clothing.

Oh for crying out loud people. I was not telling anyone to not critique this piece. :lol

I know but some people have thinner skin than a rotted out corpse.

There is a difference between critiquing and nit picking IMO.

As far as the sculpt I'll say it again from my POV Oluf nailed it dead on.

The sculpt is dead on. But now that you guys have brought it up, the eye brows are off. But that is just a lick of paint.

Really? I think this is much closer than the QUi-Gon sculpt.

The hair was a little funky, but I can completely see Liam Neeson in that piece. With this, the paint is getting in the way of truly seeing Ian McDiarmid in the portrait. I believe it's 99.9% there, but the paint's too thick and the skin is far too tan.

It's like I've said frequently as of late: eye of the beholder.

I dunno, I think it's hard to say whether or not the skin is that tan because the lighting is so affected. When we see fully lit pictures then I'll determine whether I like it or not, but really, I don't have any issues with it, not even with the eyebrows.

The delegation from Middle Earth concurs with the representative of the Kurgan nation. This sculpt is just as good if not much better than the Qui-Gon sculpt.

I hope your happy, that made me laugh and choke on my own saliva. Best laugh all day tho and thats after one of my professors cut himself and said his stigmatta was back. :lol

The paint is off, but there is a perfectly good reason for it. Last year they were accused of bait and switch when the factory paint didn't match the prototype.

The Palps HS is just about dead on. I understand the paint apps picadillos but c'mon man, get real. It doesn't get any better than this.

Get real?? I'm just saying it's off, which is pretty true. And it DOES and could definitely be better than this. I don't think I'm being an over-critical Obi-Wan either. It's just not dead-on.

Darth Maul was dead on. Jabba the Hutt was dead on. Plo Koon was dead on. Bib Fortuna, dead on.

Qui-Gon Jinn was 95% dead on. Even Anakin Skywalker was 95% if it wasn't for the paint. Luke was 95% there. Young Obi-Wan is 95% there. Boushh Leia probably 98%.

Palpatine... he's about 90% there.

I don't think it's the skin tones of the paint, I think it's that SSC listened to us about more creatively lit product photos, the last few human releases done in that lighting have looked different than the old days of light flushed images, so I think that's playing with how this figures color looks, not necessarily that they're painting protos to look more like production, it still looks much nicer than a production figure.

I can't wait, one more week!

I'd agree with all of that except for saying Palpatine is so low compared to the others. This Palpatine is eerily done well, and without question better resembles McDiarmid than Anakin looks like Hayden, not by much, but no way this falls short or equal.

Of course, I'm only grading from actual products vs a photo of Palp, so it's an unfair comparison, I'll admit.

I really want this to be better than the photo though. Palpatine is too awesome.

I hope they have hoodless shots of the Sidious sculpt. Oluf's got it right cuz his face looks fat and rounder with the hood up as it did in many of the ROTS shots, but it'd be nice to see that the overall head has the same shape as the Palpatine as it looked just after the Mace duel's conclusion.

Yeah, I wonder if the emphasis was on Yoda Duel Palps or post mace duel swollen palps....

As previously mentioned...

Wait till Oluf posts his unpainted Sculpts and you'll see what I mean.
