I don't agree with that all, other then M maybe. James Bond isn't a ranked...he's a person, actually named James Bond, just like Blofeld. You were more right the second time, there is little to zero continuity in Bond films.

I agree, the Bond films are not on a continous universe with different agents taking on the James Bond identity.
Just the same character played by different actors at different periods in time, off on a mission.
I liked Skyfall. It wa a cool homage to the past bond films and very well made. My favorite? Not at all, but a good modern Bond.
Im still not a giant fan of Craig, too rough looking and he looked ragged as hell in this one.

I agree, the Bond films are not on a continous universe with different agents taking on the James Bond identity.

...but I hope they will be going forward.

After Craig is done they should carry forward with Casino Royal as the starting point. It would also be great to see them go back and do over some titles but closer to the the Ian Fleming books.

Also there is a part where Bond and Moneypenny are in a car chase and they scrape off their rearviewmirrors in a tight spot - took me right back to TDK where Batman knocks the rearviewmirror off the guys car when he's on the batpod

But when the Director of said film comes out and says he was inspired by TDK, I sure do think about it.
