Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

having any favorite MCU movies makes you a shill.

shill-gor, i like the sound of that.

I am dc guy like you guy but this only perpetuates the problem because its not really true. Marvel makes good movies, you don't have to be a loyalist, there is no war, the only war is the superhero genre vs the rest of crap we would get if they didnt make these movies. People need to understand that all superhero movies are tied together, if DCU fails out this will have a negative effect on marvel. If people get burned out on superhero **** what are we left with ... Philadelphia part 2 or 3??? or the 15th remake of terminator or aliens, or maybe avatar 7... None of us want this ride to end regardles if you partial to marvel or dc.. The end result is we go back to where we were before these movies came out. If it wasn't for superhero or star wars movies I'd never see a movie in a theater again. Lets be honest here, nobody wants to pay 30 bucks to bring their family to a run of the mill drama they can just wait to watch at home for much less, especially when a big screen doesn't add any value to watching said movie. Its not about marvel vs DC its about Superhero genre vs everything else that would be in the theater if they weren't making these movies.

+1

There's a lot of truth to this. But sadly, trying to get it through anybody's heads will usually fall on deaf ears.

Man, you're really missing out then. You're definitely not alone though which is why studios put the majority of their resources into the same franchises year after year.

I dont miss out ill watch them at home
I have a nice 4k oled tv set up with full atmos surround and a massive sub..hardly any movie look or sound better in the theater. Has to be imax special effects ladden movie to really benefit and be worth it.. as of now only star wars and superhero films fit that bill with a few others sprinkled in.. jurrasic world pacific rim type movies

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

My 3 favorite MCU movies. But high art? Bold? These three are definitely popcorn movies.

They were definitely bold in that they went against the grain within a franchise that very much plays it safe. They individually achieved greatness within a mostly mediocre MCU which is incredibly impressive.

I agree if it isn't SW, Superhero, Bond or George Miller Mad Max I have no business being in a movie theater.

It's not like a new Terminator, Robocop, Alien, Predator or Jurassic Park movie are going to be any good they're not.

And forget any new Mad Max because Miller is now saying future Max movies have been put on hold.

WB is not doing too well lately.

Cameron & Miller's "T3" has the potential to be another Blade Runner 2049.

Cameron could never make BR 2049. His sensibilities are too blue collar.

If Cameron made Blade Runner, you'd have tough, wisecracking replicants and some version of a power loader chasing them down.

Naked Harrison Ford.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Can you imagine if they did this type of thing for LOTR...

Gimli... and the Mystery of the Subterranean Menace

Legolas Greenleaf: the Elf who Blew My Flute (starring Michael Fassbender)

Théoden: Home Again 2

If the hobit trilogy wasnt such a failure then we may have gotton that.. that trilogy killed lotr.. wasnt even close to the OT in terms of quality. It should have been 1 movie maybe 2 at most but greed got them like it did with harry potter

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

So this still a go for May? Shouldnt we see at least a teaser for this by now?

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

No, we haven't even gotten episode 8 yet. They won't push solo too hard until this is close to coming on blu. If we're lucky we might get a trailer with 8.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Infinity War is also May and that trailer just dropped. I'm guessing they wanted people to enjoy Ragnarok first. I bet we'll see the first Solo preview about a month after TLJ is released.
