y'know, organic web shooters weren't raimi's idea. james cameron once did an original scriptment for spiderman sometime in the late 90s. he came up with the idea that if parker is to assume the attributes of a spider, it'd be logical if he developed the ability to organically generate web fluid too. so blame cameron if u want. personally, i love the idea. think it makes pete a "real" spider-man. all due respect to comic canon, the idea of a teen inventing a substance even giant chemical corporations like 3M couldn't is way too unbelievable.

i never really liked the lizard. always thought he was a pretty boring villain. same with vulture and rhino.

incidentally, cameron's scriptment featured electro as the main villain. i like electro, he's pretty badass. n visually interesting too.

and i hope they replace kirsten dunst with an actress who is actually hot. someone mentioned jessica biehl. i could live with that.

Kirsten needs to stay. There's no one who can replace her, in my opinion (nor would I want them to.)

I surely think the franchise needs a major re-haul, no matter what the specific changes are. It was like Raimi and the actors were just bored out of their minds by SM3.

If I personally had a choice, I would steer clear of lame, derivative 90s villains like Carnage, and focus on another classic nemesis like Kraven or Electro. I would also use far less CGI-Spidey, and far more "man in suit." As for who is cast, I don't really care, though I would probably prefer some "no-names" who can actually best represent the characters over "my pet favorite actress X"

I think Kraven and Electro are the best two ideas I've heard. And like I said earlier, definitely NO Carnage....please.

Anyways Pete is a genius and was working on his fathers work i believe, and it lended credibility to his genius having finished the formula for the web fluid. And besides webshooters are just cool. But that argument is dead and old now and it's not going to happen now.

I agree, I would want her to stay as well, as far as web shooters vs real web fluid....I perfer the the natuaral web fluid....never liked the web shooters.

to me it never made sense that he had all the powers of a spider: super strength, precognition, sticking to wall, agility but the most obvious...creating webs had to be "invented"....never got that.

That's your opinion, but I definitely don't agree with that. The on-screen chemistry between Tobey and Kirsten is amazing, and I think she more than fits the bill. She has the looks and the acting talent. She's got my vote. And if a director like Sam Raimi wants her back, you know she did something right.

well yeah, i guess if u put it that way, a guy with spider powers is pretty unbelievable too.

but we're taking it all in the context of "suspension of disbelief". for me it's easier to accept a human mutating and developing abilities of a radioactive/genetically altered spider, compared to him being able to create something that not only requires a genius mind but millions of dollars in R&D as well.

then again i suppose if raimi n gang wanted to go with the mechanical webshooter route, they'd probably have found a credible way to do it. either way, i'm cool.

that stuff never bugged me like "supermodel" kirsten dunst. bleh.
